Description
Labatt has deep roots in Canada stemming from its founder John Kinder. In 1847, a little more than a decade after arriving in London, Ontario from Ireland, John Kinder Labatt purchased London's Simcoe Street brewery in partnership with Samuel Eccles and by 1855 had become the brewery's sole proprietor. The brewery was later renamed John Labatt's Brewery, marking the beginning of one of Canada's largest and most successful companies.

In 1995, it was purchased by Belgian brewer Interbrew. Labatt is now part of the new company, Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev).

950 mL bottle courtesy of Kinz. Thanks! Pours a clear golden color with a thin frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of not much... dusty corn. Maybe some grassiness. The taste is green apples, pear, grain, grassy hops. Boozy. Thin. It’s a malt liquor, I guess. Both less harsh and harsher than a typical malt liquor. Almost a liter at 10.1%, those French Canadian kids don’t mess around.

Bouteille 341ml.

24oz can poured into a shaker. Pours a clear, dark gold with minimal head. Aroma of boozy corn and grain with a little apple. Taste is light sweet. Corn and grain with some sugar and green apple. Medium bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Soft carbonation and a long finish. Overall, not too bad. I could drink this one again.

This ale poured a crystal clear, light yellow colour with a decent, bright white head. Scents include corn, bread and hay. First sip was as thin as gasoline. No body at all. Flavours weak of light grain and hop. Very light bitterness to the finish. Drinkable but common corporate slop.
