Description
Yvan DE BAETS and Bernard LEBOUCQ meet each other in 2002, during the second edition of the Zinnekparade. Bernard had created the now famous ZINNEBIR for this unique Brussels event. However, it took another five years for BRASSERIE DE LA SENNE to settle effectively in the capital. In the meantime, the brewing activities were continued at friendly breweries. This bohemian existence came to an end on December 22, 2010, the date of the very first 100% Brussels brew!

Bottle. Look: Dark redbrown with off wite head. Smell: Milk chocolate, licorice, hops, smoke, something metallic. Taste: Milk chocolate, coffee, licorice, smoke, belgian yeast, small tartness in aftertaste.Overall: Nice complex beer, but it needs more power. Both aroma and flavor is kind of shy.

Bottled. Dark brown color, big brown head. Spicy aroma, brown malt, caramel, molasses, hint of toffee and licorice. Quite bitter taste, spicy, laurel, licorice. Hmm, weird combination. Dryish palate.

33cl bottle from ølbutikken. unclear yellow with sediment and stuff that looks like oil. nice thick white head. however the beer looks quite bad just after the pour. very nice fruity hoppy aroma. citrus, faint orange, spices, floral hops, based with more sawdusty hops. great aroma for a 4.5%’er. flavor is very dry (hops), faintly floral, sawdust, grapefruit, pine. is refreshing the same way a schwepps bitter lemon is. boy this is dry for a low alc beer.

Clearish brown coloured body on the pour, but fading to a muddy deep ruby-tinted brown with a thinnish tan head (one centimetre) and a nice opaque look. Aroma of fruits, apples, pears and a good curacao scent. Scents of yeast, coriander seed and spices also come through - if you didn’t see the colour, you’d think this is a tripel since there are no roasted malts in the nose nor any bitter coffee/chocolate/nuts. Medium-bodied; Very assertive effervescence fading to a light maltiness and a subtle bitter nut flavour with almost nothing else in the flavour - very mild. Strong aftertaste with almost no backbone - very odd! Overall, an amazing looking and smelling beer, but the taste is completely bland and simple - an odd beer to say the least! I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Spirits in Washington, D.C. on 07-March-2009, sampled at home here in Washington on 15-March-2009.

Dark brown with a lasting big tan head. Strong malty aroma, with a little fruit and bubblegum. The roast malt flavour is not very Belgian, but nevertheless, very interesting
