Description
We started Carbon Brews in 2018. Since day one, we have been an employee’s-driven brewery that continues to push the boundaries with our innovative beers. Our goal is to use our creative brews to bring excitement to the Hong Kong beer drinkers which they can share with their friends. Our brewery is located in the city’s industrial area Fo Tan (“Tan” is the Cantonese character for “carbon”!) where all of our employees collaboratively develop and brew ground breaking recipes with our 30HL brewhouse.

Bottle at CBJ Tasting. Bottle at CBJ Tasting. Hazy-opaque dark brown. No head. Aroma is chewy and chocolatey with dark fruit and a boozy edge. Flava natch. Medium bodied. Slick. Flat-soft carbonation. Long dry astringent finish.

So so, malty, airy, some bourbon accents, toasted bread. Stewed fruits, apples, caramel. Not bad.

Bottleshare at CBJ. Thanks to Tips. Clear darkish amber, no real head. Light and semi dry palate, decent fine carbonation. Slightly thin bodied malts, an unsweet toffee and somewhat tired tasting caramel. Mildly spicy finish. Okay

Hazy light orange with a small head. Piney hops, caramel malt and biscuit. Going a little too far in the malt direction. Pleasant enough though, there’s still a nice fruity finish.

Can shared at work. Opaque golden pour, white head. Nose is floral and fruity with a touch of honey. Taste is again fruits and flowers with some honey and biscuits and has a decent bitterness to it. Closes with bittersweet finish, has light body and average carbonation. Decent.

Poured from the tap @ MBCC 2023 blue session (finally adding my notes). Dark brown. Cinnamon, tonka bean vanilla, hint of licorice, nice flavours, but lacking in body.
