Description
Exit Brewing fell from the minds of two Melbournians, who decided to exit their corporate I.T. jobs and follow their passion for brewing beer. Now the family-owned business is led by founder and brewer, Grum Knight, and offers an iconic core range that keeps true to the founding principles of quality and honesty. Our story began with the release of a Saison farmhouse ale back in 2014. Since then, we have added a few more of our favourite styles including a bold yet balanced Pale Ale, the complex American-style AIBA trophy winning Amber Ale, the rich smooth AIBA trophy winning Milk Stout and a hoppy West Coast-style IPA. These year-round releases are complemented by our limited release program that pays homage to our original numbered batches. We’re a fully independent brewery located in Melbourne’s South East, with a small but mighty team of incredible people who continually strive to keep ‘craft’ at the heart of what we do.

Bottle. Slightly hazy amber with a thick off white head that lasts very well. 4 Aroma of toasted caramel, pine resin, kumquats. 7+ Rich and sweet with caramel, peach and mango before a lurch towards bitter and resinous pine. Slightly earthy, some pepper. Mostly gets away with the sweetness due to being clean and having thumping bitterness at the end. Not totally my sort of thing but very well done and stonkingly fresh.

Bottle - Sweet syrupy malts with a bit of hop. Cloudy copper with a small beige crown. Lots of caramel and a nice sweetness, hops are in the background with a dry finish. More on the barlewine side.

Tasting at Matt’s
Cloudy amber color, pours somehow viscously and without much head. Very nice malt aroma, sweet, a lot of toffee, some mellow fruits. Sweet, malty flavor, with robust bitterness, and a lot of hop resins, but also a fruit touch. Strong bitterness, but the final misses some better hop quality.
Good beer, borderline with American Barley Wines.

500mL bottle, pours a cloudy opaque dark orangey amber with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of caramel upfront, followed by resinous hops, and lots of syrupy sweetness. Flavour is sticky and sweet without being cloying, with lots of caramel malt sweetness upfront, backed by loads of resinous hops, and a decent tropical fruity component. Over-malted for my taste, but it's thankfully not too cloying. Very nice.

500ml bottle into schooner glass. Herbal medicinal nose, smells like band-aids, liquorice and Chicos. Totally opaque beer with frothy tan-coloured head. Full-bodied and bitter. Excellent! Lots of smoky peatiness in the finish. Some raisins too. Nice to drink a stout that doesn’t shout ’Chocolate and Coffee!’
