Can at Hamer Hall during Flaming Lips show. Yup, this passionfruit on top of passionfruit with some passionfruit on the side. Super refreshing with the requisite lingering saltiness and sourness.

Tap at the Boilermaker House, Melbourne. Poured a clear golden colour with a short-lived frothy white head. The aroma is grainy malt, grassy, tropical citrus fruits. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet, with a fresh, crisp, malt, mineral, juicy fruit, light dry hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Tap at Clifton Hill. Poured a hazy yellow golden colour with a bubbly round white head and lots of bubbles. The aroma is yeast, big pineapple. The flavour is light sweet/sour with a light, watery, pineapple, light vanilla palate. Light bodied with soft to average carbonation. This beer is all over the place. Light and no backbone whatsoever.

It's a sign that Melbourne breweries have been strip-mining popular culture for names for a while that we're down to naming beers after the output of cover bands. Can. Brooding opaque dark red with a pink head that's soon a coat. Beguiling mix of berry aromas - sweet, hairy/ herbal, feral. Has depth and presence (for 4.1%) but also lightness. Slightly slippery, low carbonation. Moderately but insistently tart with lovely berries that are both mellow and have a hairy/earthy edge. A little nibble of bitterness at the end. Hope this one becomes a regular.

Can. Clear golden amber with a loose inch of white head. Loud hoppy aroma over honeyed hay. Ruby grapefruit, lime, mango, coconut - Sabro yes, maybe something else too. It's punchy. And that's it really. The malt amounts to not much more than a platform, but it does the job: not too sweet, no real booze presence and the finish is bitter yet not harsh. A blast.

Can. Hazy amber. Smells like pine tree. Some tropical flavours also, but this is very much a West Coast IIIPA, and very welcome.
