(Keg at Mikkeller Helsinki, 20200310) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had dark chocolate, burnt malts and coffee. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, dark chocolate, lightly tonka beans, medium sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt, oily and bitter. A tasty burnt brew with lightly weird notes.

lichtgeel bier zonder schuim. Smaak is lichtzuur met iets van kruidige citrus. Bier is totaal dood en levenloos en de smaak is ook al niet mijn ding. Helaas, de Moersleutel ken ik vant véél betere bieren.

(Keg at Pikkulintu, 20200225) The beer poured pale golden and quite hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had grapefruit, resin and tangerine. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were pine, grapefruit, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy and bitter. A tasty hoppy brew without any gimmicks.

Tap @ Sori Taproom, Helsinki. Poured hazy and orange like in color. Thick white head. Spot on juiciness, tropical fruits and hops. Smooth and juicy with tons of fruity hops; mango, pineapples. Smooth finish. Only the bitterness is lacking.

A style that has kind of faded away is Brut IPA joining Black IPA in the forgotten brewer’s toolbox. Edge x Northern Monk Collaboration Pomp & Circumstance 7.7% DDH Brut IPA Clear yellow gold with a soapy off-white head and a fruity pine aroma. The medium to full body starts of slick but ends dry. The fruity pine aroma is joined by woodsy elements and toasted biscuit. Not terribly hoppy at this point but it tastes really good.

29 November 2019. At Billie's Craft Beer Fest. Cheers to the lovely Anke, tderoeck, 77ships & Ghent beer crew! Hazy black, lasting, very thin, beige head. Aroma of clove, pepper, black olive, herbs, walnut shell, fondant. Taste has sweetish bread, chocolate, fig, going over bitter clove, rosemary, toast & nutty accents. Dry, toasty, peppery hoppy finish, lingering toast & warming herbal liqueur alcohol. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Not bad but this is so weird actually, taste feels out of place.
