Yes, the best beer of the 3 I had at bocktown. An interestingly tart nose, you know its coming. Was fooled by the strong ale styling. If this is near 9% you’d never know it. The wild attitude about it hides tha alky oh so well, fun and easy, quite refined. Never in yer face. Good job on this one. A nice example of how a big kick sour beer can be done. Goes down way too easy. Pleasantly surprised! Overall good ratebeer experience.

Bottle thanks to Art! Pours hazy golden, small off-white head, dissipates slowly, good lacing. quite a bit of suspended silty stuff in the glass. Aroma is dusty, funky, Brett, barnyard, earthy, hay. Flavor is very light sweet, very light bitter, lightly funky, Bretty. Clean, but a little simple. Light body, high carbonation. A mineral water feel, a bit dirty.

Bomber thanks to Dan. Come on guys, I can’t even read the name! Draai Laag is just trying too hard. Anyway, pours a cloudy orange color with a large white head. A huge funky woody nose, apricots, lemon. Solid. Light funk, lemons, oranges, straw, very soft peppery base, fluffy palate, more citrus, honey. Very good. Lovely beer.

The Beer Store, Southampton, PA: Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is honey, fruitiness, and yeast. Taste is a little sweet. Body is carbonated. Has a sot of winy aftertaste, I understand the connection that they draw to cider, as at times the beer does seem a little like a cider.

Sampled on draft at Hou Thou this beer poured a dark brown color with faint red highlights and a small soapy tan head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was tart, tangy and a bit spicy. The flavor was sour malts, dry spices, cinnamon, anise, clove, fig, red meat and red wine. Long finish. Medium body but a bit undercarbonated. Interesting.

On tap at the bocktown, nice place. Darker iced tea color. Somewhat farmy off tart aroma. Head fades after about 10 mins but this stuff was foaming all over when poured. Decent lacing and the initial impression on the buds is a bitter malty thing first then it comes around to tart. Tart wild thing fades after each swig and that malty, I think, bitter thing hangs for a while. IMHO, just not tart enough but I’m glad its there. Not a whole lotta co2 in this one.

Sampled on draft at Dad’s Pub & Grub this beer poured a pale yellow color with a small foamy white head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was very faint with a bit of tanginess, vague fruits and vodka. The flavor was bitter, tart and a bit tangy with notes of Pez, a vague odd fruitiness and vodka. Medium length finish. Medium body. Meh.

Finally another DL, yeah! On tap at the bocktown, nice place. No real apparent aroma, surprisingly no volatile fumes for nearly 10%. And, its fairly easy on the palate. quite civilized you would never know this is 10%. Hides the alky really well, reserved and almost sessionable. On the uptake, it seems more like a 4% domestic beldgy. After a few, you now know its a tenner, wew, dizzy baby. Well done DL on this beldgy wannah bee. Its reserved and with manners, good job! Nice domestic attept at a real trippel.
