Description
In April/May 2021 Brouwerij Breugem ended its relationship with Brouwerij Hoop and moved to a new location back in Zaandam. A re-branding was implemented in October 2021, and a number of beers were given new names. Breugem Brewery will also continue as Breugem Bier. For the past few years, Breugem has been a client brewer at Brouwerij Jopen in Haarlem.
In 2023, Brouwerij De Prael Amsterdam Houthavens was taken over, making the dream of having its own brewery and tasting room come true. Part of the production continues to be brewed at Jopen Bier.

Bottle 33cl. @home poured into a shaker. Cleat deep golden colour, good frothy white head, mostly diminishing, light lacing. Aroma sweet malts, yeast (lots of), white grapes, some honey. Taste medium sweet and light bitter, malty, yeast, white grapes, hay, spicy notes. Medium body, owatery to oily texture, soft carbonation, maltish sweetbitter aftertaste, yeasty, bit of cardboard, spicy touch, nice.

330ml bottle. Opaque, darkest brown colour with average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Roasty, dark malty and resinous, slightly fruity, hoppy aroma, hints of liquorice, bramble, some coffee, zesty overtones. Taste is bitter, resinous and slightly fruity hoppy, roasty, minimally chocolately, dark malty, hints of liquorice, bramble, some coffee, zesty overtones; lingering, bitter hoppy finish. Slightly oily, watery texture, dry palate, medium, prickly carbonation. Not overly complex, but quite beefy and nicely dirty - pretty decent.
Earlier Rating: 4/6/2015 Total Score: 3.4
330ml bottle. Dark mahogany colour with average to huge, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Chocolately, dark malty aroma, cocoa notes, some mocha and white coffee. Taste is initially grassy bitter hoppy, followed by a watery gap, then the chocolately dark malty basis starts to operate, again some cocoa, mocha, white coffee; bitter, grassy finish. While both (the malty and hoppy) sides are still combined in aroma, they are clearly distinct in taste; and the quality and strength of this Black IPA is decidedly on the malty side.

Fles thuis geprobeerd met LiekevdV. Het is een diep donkerbruin bier met een bruinig schuim. Het heeft een aroma van gebrande mout, chocolade en peper. De smaak is vol, chocolade, toffee en een zacht pepertje.

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 5 May 2022) Pale amber colour, hazy, with frothy white head. Fruity nose with apricots, orange, caramel and hints of herbs. Fruity, malty taste with notes of orange peel, apricots, bread and a mild herbal/citric bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well balanced maibock. Quite nice.

2/VII/22 - 33cl bottle @ Abeels’ place, BB: IV/2023 (2022-845) Thanks to the Abeels for sharing the beer!
Pretty cloudy beige to brown beer, big aery off-white head, little stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: sweet, pretty oxidized, almonds, sugary, caramel, ripe fruits. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of alcohol, bitter, a bit resinous, fruity touch, sweet malts. Aftertaste: sweet and malty, pretty bitter, very oxidized, overripe tropical fruits, resinous and dry finish, not very good, meh.

Op tap bij Lokaal Haarlem. Iets mistig goudgeel bier, witte kraag. Droog, licht fruitig, druiven, moutig, doet zelfs iets brut-achtigs aan, bitter. Lichte body. Goed gelukt, prima fris zomerbier.

33 cl. bottle shared with Hilde @ Café den Tollensteghe, Culeborg.
Hazy orange with a white head. Floral en herbal aroma. Sweet taste with a low bitter finish. Decent if a bit too floral for my taste.
