Description
Oxbow is a small farmhouse brewery located in rural Newcastle, Maine. The brewery is nestled in an enchanted forest amongst rolling farmlands and winding tidal rivers, of which the ebb and flow provide a constant reminder that the coast is near.
The name Oxbow is inspired by the bends in these rivers, the Dyer in particular, which features stunning horseshoe-shaped oxbows where the river covers tremendous ground to travel what could otherwise be a very short linear distance. We employ a similar approach when crafting our beers, taking months or years to create a beverage that is commonly produced in a matter of days.

Batch #8. This brew pours a cloudy pale golden color with a medium foamy white head that dissipates gradually. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of dank hops, yeast and citrus. Medium-bodied with a delicate floral hops character and flavors of citrus, earthy yeast and vinous oak. The finish is slightly funky with an oak and hops aftertaste. Enjoyable beer all around.

12oz pour at Of Love & Regret. Pours a clear orange with some creamy white head. Nose is nice, not a standard take on an IPA, pungent citrus, some pine, but also some cinnamon. Flavor is interesting, orange peel, lemony hop, cinnamon, raisin, candy sugar. Lightly bitter finish. Very interesting.

Bouteille 75cl de et partagée avec Pierre. Merci.

Location: Draft at Cornerstone, Cornerstone - Artisanal Pizza & Craft Beer, 7/10/2013

Aroma: The aroma is yeast and spice, kind of peppery, with some hay, and grass
Appearance: It pours a hazy golden color with a nice white head atop it
Flavor: The taste is yeasty and lightly funky, plenty of spice, and a nice, light balancing hop
Palate: Light-medium body, clean and drinkable, with plus carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a tasty Saison. It made for a nice example if the style, and drank very nicely. I enjoyed it.

Location: Draft at Cornerstone (Ogunquit), 7/9/13

Aroma: The nose is a nice mix of hops and brett, tropical fruit, and some pine as well
Appearance: The pours a cloudy gold-orange color with a small white head
Flavor: The flavor is much the same, an excellent mix of funky and hoppy
Palate: The body is medium, with a nice mouthfeel, and a good drinkability
Overall Impression: I thought that this one was excellent. It is basically just a well-made mixture of hops and funk, and I really enjoy the ways those two mix. It felt like something Anchorage would make, and I mean that as a total compliment.

Without being able to say specifically why, this is just very good. Hoppy with a nice malt integration. Pours cloudy pale orange without much head or lacing. Medium bitter finish. Some citrus and pine in the flavour. Average carbonation. Tap at Novare Res.

Not bad, but doesn’t quite match up to all the Belgian saisons I just had. Cloudy blonde, ok head and lacing. Some hay, musk and farmhouse here. Finishes bitter sour in light proportions. Tap at Novare Res.

Draft at Ebenezer’s Lovell, ME. Nearly clear amber color, thin soapy head. Nose is mostly sweet malt with traces of honey and tones of dried fruit. Flavor is a mirror image of the aroma with hints of Farmhouse funk. Medium in body yet has a watery texture.
