Acidic aroma like lambic, only a little less noticeable. Cloudy golden colour, small head. Flavour is sweet with nice acidity and mild finish. Very refreshing.

Bottle. First pour is 75% head, but this rapidly recedes to a large two-finger head, clumpy, foamy and lace sticking everywhere. Opaque and heavily sedimented, the colors vary from a pale orange to a rusty gold. Wonderful head retention. You can’t ask for any better head retention, as I think there was still head after I finished my glass. Aroma of freshly mowed grass clippings, where the grass is full of dandelions. Light wheat notes, a touch of honey and vanilla and perhaps coriander (or is that just dandelions?). Upon first sip, even before I notice the flavor, what jumps out is the relaxed, creamy mouthfeel. I’ve never had a Fantome with this easygoing carbonation. Despite the mountains of foam and vigorous small bubles rising, the mouthfeel remains lightly creamy, with no pepperiness from the carbonation, as I would expect. Is this just an older bottle, which has lost some of its aggressive carbonation? Must be. Flavor is a mix of honey, light dandelion and soft citrus acids. A bit of lemon-lime notes and a surprisingly clean, pils malt finish. Yeast does not run rampant in this, though there is a bit of chewiness and funk as I get closer to the bottom of the bottle. This hit the spot nicely. My last Fantome being the sweet, tangy, forceful d’été, this was a pleasant surprise. Medium body, extremely drinkable. Perhaps too simple in flavor, and where is all the funky yeast? A session saison for sure!

Brown, muddy colour. Rich head. Spicy, yeasty citrus aroma. Dry, bitter, spicy (allspice?, cardamom?) flavour. Reminds me of Fantôme Chocolat.

Brown, hazy colour. Huge head. The foam kept gushing from the bottle minutes after I opened it. Earthy, slightly acidic aroma with a touch of yeast. Dry and quite bitter flavour. A surprisingly simple effort from the Fantôme Brewery.... and by the way, where’s the chocolate?

Fruity aroma. Cloudy greyish colour. Nice full mouthfeel with some citrus flavour and a little sweetness. OK bitter finish.

Bottle Amber, muddy body. Bitter aroma of hops, yeast, spices, vanilla, cognac, ... quite nice, complex and well balanced. Moderately bitter, moderately sour flavour (floral). Very complex flavour with a good balance.

Deep amber to brown body. Creamy, brown head with a good lace. Aroma of orange, hops, esters, wood, ... Moderately sweet, lightly bitter estery initial flavour. Lightly bitter, lightly sweet finish. Fruity flavour. Quite nice old beer, but misses some guts to go into hops or sweetness, the flavour keeps on waiting to make a decision and makes none afterall (but could be due to age). Anyway, nice, but could be better.

Draught at ZBF 2005 Creamy, off-white, diminsihing head. Cloudy amber-orange body. Good lace. Nose of malts and hops. Lightly sweet, moderately bitter initital flavour. Lightly bitter finish. Medium to fully bodied.

Orange muddy colour. Huge white head. Slightly acidic, earthy aroma with a touch of winter apples. Light, refreshing body. Somewhat sweetish orange and apple flavour. The taste of alcohol is nowhere to be found.
