Tap at Arendsnest. Black with beige head. Smoke, ash, bready, red wine. Very dry ashy feel, medium bitter towards the finish. Medium bodied with light feel. Don’t get much barley wine here, but nice stuff.

(Bottle, De Spuyt, Amsterdam, 28 Feb 2015) Hazy pale amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity, floral nose with notes of orange peel, caramel and hibiscus. Malty, fruity taste with caramel, citrus, blood orange, a touch of hibiscus and a balanced spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a balanced sweetness. Tasty and interesting with a fresh floral character. Nice one.
