Zakkoku rustic saison on tap at Craft Beer Holiday. An opaque orange-red pour with a filmy light beige head. The nose is yeasty cloves & spicy rye. Fairly thin bodied. The taste is bitter, astringent lemon and spicy rye. I guess this is more of a roggenbier than a saison. It’s ok.

Tap at Craft Beer Holiday. Muddy dark brown. Slightly rough nose, chocolate, oats, lemon, orange. Flavor is a bit rough and grainy, citrus, some alcohol. A bit thick and muddy. Not terrible as when others had it, but still not exactly right.

On tap at Craft Beer Holiday. Zakkoku Kobo Citrus Weisse 5% An opaque honey pour with minimal head. The aroma is weizen wheat & cloves spiciness with a dash of citrus. The taste delivers a sharp citrus zest that clashes somewhat with the wheaty clove phenolics. Medium bodied it’s actually pretty nice but a bit rough around the edges though it did grow on me.

Keyaki Fall 2015. Dark and muddy brown with swirls of white on the top. Strong nail polish remover and paint thinner aromas present with some light cacao in there under the off-flavors. Taste is strong paint thinner and nail polish again with some cacao and light pepper. Something went horribly wrong here and they really shouldn’t have sold this to be honest. --- Beer merged from original tick of Black Cat Ale on 21 Sep 2015 at 13:40 - Score: 3

Keyaki Fall 2015. Deep brown with a small tan head. Aromas of sansho, chocolate and light roast. Good carbonation and the sansho is a nicely done. Not overly spiced like some of these kinds of beers are. Very enjoyable with good chocolate richness. Dry and peppery finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of Sansho Porter (山椒ポーター) on 21 Sep 2015 at 13:38 - Score: 8
