A very smooth, drinkable barleywine. The nose is understated with light notes of malt, wood and citrus. A big, off-white head on a murky caramel coloured body. The taste profile leads with rich caramel, followed by an array of ripe berries, butter, citrus hops, and sweet malt. Smooth, slick and drinkable. No conflicting elements in the finish.

A dense, pillowy well-laced tan head on a black/brown body. Nose is roasted coffee, dark fruit and chocolate. Highly roasted malt and coffee lead the taste profile. Toffee, lactose, butter, coffee and sweet, ripe, dark berries round out a strong presence. The finish adds a note of ash and retracts from initial sweetness. The body is appropriately dense and slightly sticky. Well put together.

A fine white head on a clear straw body. Understated caramel, spice, and pepper mix is not bad, but there is just not enough going on here to warrant a higher rating.

Love this original recipe MF! Almost no head with a dark mahogany body. an appealing nose featuring toffee, chocolate, dried fruit, berries, alcohol and roasted malt. Make no bones about it, this is a sweet wee heavy, but there is enough balance and other things going on to make it very palatable. Dark caramel, apricots, toffee, candied fruit, raisins and dark berries, and a touch of bubble gum and hops add up to a great taste experience. I expect it to magnify as this bottle approaches room temperature. A rich, slick and dense body and mouth feel are what you would hope for

Was worried that the Maple version would be over-the-top sweet, but was pleasantly surprised. This is a big, rich, dense imperial Scotch Ale with a very prominent but well integrated Maple presence. A solid malt backbone, brown sugar, and cherries round out the taste profile. A brilliant sipper.

A great creation by an emerging Gatineau-area brew master. A brown ale with a bite. The 80 plus IBUs give a new twist to an old concept. The hops pump up a classic brown ale malt profile. A significant roasty nuttiness works well with the other elements. Very fresh, punchy tastes in excellent balance.

500ml bottle from Chez Ben. Dark mahogany with a small short lived khaki head. Nose is caramel, molasses, honey and dark fruit with a touch of coffee and licorice. Medium- caramel and honey sweetness with some dark candied fruit and a light coffee bitterness. Mouth is full with soft carbonation. 8/3+/7+/4/15
