Description
Timmermans has kept the tradition of the true lambic alive for over 300 years now. This unique beer, made with 30% wheat, is brewed in Itterbeek, in the oldest active lambic brewery. At its origin is a miracle: micro-organisms in the air of the Senne valley end up in the wort and cause spontaneous fermentation. This is why a true lambic is brewed only within a 15 km radius of Brussels, in the area known as Pajottenland. Since 1993, Martin’s Finest Beer Selection has been proud to preserve this authentic part of Belgium’s beer heritage.

Bottled. Light yellow, almost clear beer with some floaties and a small white head. Citric and lemony nose with some medicine and metal. Lots of lemon in the flavor, with a good deal of sugar as well. Almost sodapop-like. Sweet, lightly astringent and soapy mouthfeel. Very lemony finish with some hints of hops. Strange brew. (060810)

Deep burgundy red with pinkish shine, quite carbonated; huge cyclamen-pink head, frothy and leaving lace. Oversweet cherry bonbon’s smell. Childrens’ sweets with cherry - flavouring, indeed! Nauseatingly, cloyingly sweet flavour giving a syrupy impression shot through an otherwise fully watery... beer(?). Drops dead afterwards, leaving the reminiscence of a childhood scene involving having had too many sweets in secret. UGH!!

Bottled. Sparkling, golden beer with a small off-white head. Lightly sour aroma with hints of green apples. The flavor has some sourness too, and some fruityness. Decent, lightly astringent body. Quaffable, but definately not hard-core. (060715)

250ml bottle (Alc.4.5%). Marked cherry-lambic aroma. Burgundy red body with a small light reddish head. Candy sweet flavour, to some extend balanced by a bit sourness. Crispated. Consumed as a thirst quencher on one of the few warm summer evenings in the Arctic. But I’m not particular fond of the style.
