Description
Timmermans has kept the tradition of the true lambic alive for over 300 years now. This unique beer, made with 30% wheat, is brewed in Itterbeek, in the oldest active lambic brewery. At its origin is a miracle: micro-organisms in the air of the Senne valley end up in the wort and cause spontaneous fermentation. This is why a true lambic is brewed only within a 15 km radius of Brussels, in the area known as Pajottenland. Since 1993, Martin’s Finest Beer Selection has been proud to preserve this authentic part of Belgium’s beer heritage.

Draught Partly transparant, bubbly white head over fully clear metallic amber beer. Old casks, horseblanket, grapeskins, stored haybales, freshly cut hair, limepeel. Dry, again grapeskins, farmyard, horseblanket. Other tasters claim 'umami'. Fruity without referring to specific fruit. Light body, no carbonation to speak of, wheatslick. Excellent old lambic with lots of flavour. Love it.

Just a mild haze on this strawberry colour beer, very small pink head. Palate is light and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. A thin creamy sweetness from the malts leads to a reasonably natural tasting ripe strawberry. The thyme is pretty mild but does just enough to offset the modest strawberry sweetness. A light and semi dry finish. A simple but ultimately pleasing fruit beer. I would love to see a lot more boldness in the flavours and definitely a mild tartness to enliven things, but all said and done, not bad at all.

Renowned for their sickly fruit alcopops I thought that this might be an improvement. Wish I hadn't bothered.

Künstlich fruchtiger und viel zu süßer Antrunk. Wenig Kardamom, die Süße erdrückt sowieso viele Aromen. Trocken fruchtiger Abgang. Meh. 8/5/5/5/8/5
