(Bottle 75 cl) Vintage 2004. Pours a very unclear, murky amber with a small, off-white head. Sourish, fruity nose. Medium body with some underlying sweetness, but overwhelmingly dominated by a rather complex combination of tartness (citrus - grapefruit) and aroma hops. But it’s not that bitter. A rather sophisticated beer really. Heavily sedimented. The label calls this a "Rousse de garde", to me it mostly reminds me of a Saison. Thanks to Bov for this very nice beer. 160306

Hazy amber color; fine, persistent perlage; big head. Original aroma, as usual: malt, milk chocolate, lactic, tomatoes, hop, bitter orange. Good body structure, with malt, the classic woody sourness, bitter orange peel. Complex taste, supported by a stating bitterness. Very good.

Cloudy amber color; creamy head. The aroma is of a Belgian Ale, with some malt, yeast, very light wood sourness. The taste as well is malty, with a light woody and grapefruit sourness typical of BFM and a quite evident vanilla touch. The final is essentially bitter with grapefruit. Good, complex. I wonder how much different is from the one that Philippe had one year ago, for example the hops are not evident, much more the vanilla.

(Bottle 33 cl) Semi-aged sample - bottled in July 2003. Pours a clear, warm mahogany with a reddish hue and a neat, beige head. Actually a surprisingly light body. Very vinous accents - balsamico - reminding me mostly of a Flemish Sour, albeit some lightly burned notes of malt appear in the finish. According to the label it’s meant for cellaring, but I doubt if the acidity is intentional. But generally I find it very lovely. Thanks to Bov for this. 100306

(Bottle 33 cl) Pours a very unclear, dark amber with a tall, handsome, beige coloured head with good retention. Light tartness in the nose. Medium body, immensely dry with some acidity and a touch of sherry. Also the finish is extremely dry. Reminds me a bit of a Belgian Saison. 240206

(Bottle 33 cl) Slightly hazy amber with a vaguely creamy, off-white head. Weak, fruity nose. Rather light body with vague notes of caramel and a light fruitiness. Markedly dry and bitter finish with a heavy sediment. Somehow reminds me of an English bitter. Thanks to Bov for the trade. 300106

A hazy orange beer with an off-white head. The aroma is sweet spicy with light notes of oranges, while the flavor is plainly spicy with a dry end and a thin body.

An unclear amber beer with a huge orange head. The aroma is acidic dusty, but the flavor is sweet dusty with strong notes of wood combined with fruit, and a slight acidity, leading to a dry end. Thanks Alex (fiulijn) for this nice beer.
