Refrigerated corked and capped 5.5% abv 2010 green bottle poured into a white wine glass. Pours hazy golden with no head. Warning gusher! No lacing, medium body, extreme carbonation (after removing the cap the cork started to slide out), and funky yeast aroma. Taste is complex slightly tart apple, some funky yeast, hint of chemical, and some oak. Great cider.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with flakes and stems floating with paperthin head. The aroma is apple and funk. Medium mouthfeel with a funkytart and bandaids. A decent cider from Domaine.

Refrigerated capped and corked 75 cl bottle (8 oz. sample) poured into a white wine glass at Jeremy’s Friday tasting. Pours hazy golden with very small white head that dissapates quickly. No lacing, medium body, medium carbonation, and wonderful apple and some oak aroma. Taste is pressed tart apple, oak, some chemical, and finish is dry apple. Complex cider, but expected more especially based on the ratings and price.

Bottle @ home. Random mini cider tasting. Clear copper orange appearance with no head. Tangy, dry apple, a bit spicy, a touch musty, rich apple aroma. Burnt apple, somewhat toasty, a little woody, fairly bitter flavor with a dry, bitter finish. I think it’s the roasty darkness of this one that I really didn’t enjoy.

750 c&c (2009) from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Purs gold with a foamy/fizzy/transient white head. Aroma of mixed, slightly cooked (or very ripe) apple skins. Near medium body. Lightly sweet, astringent, finishing with a touch of ripe mushy apple. Not quite so tasty as the non-organic.

2010 750 c&c from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours slightly hazy orange gold with a fizzy, transient white head. Aroma of earthy, ripe - slightly overripe? - apples. Med minus body. Light carb. Flavor is earthy, astringent apple - suggests red apples. This is really drinkable. Much like a local farm cider. I’ve had one better, but just one.

Muddy tan. Blasted out of the bottle. Looks a little rough, really. The aroma is quite farmy, with pedio, leather and apple skins. Starts sweetish, with some nice sugars, then finishes with more tartness. There remains sweetness underlying, however. The apple taste is fresh, with a little bit of acidic bite and a skin-like note. Very drinkable, and refreshing. Pretty good example of French cider.

2010 375ml from New Beer. 4.5% abv. Poured into a Ommegang chalice. Cork put a small dent in my ceiling after only a half twist of the cage. Big, fizzy, faltering head. Regenerative froth. Insanely active gold body. This thing is pissed off! Hard to smell it because of so much CO2 filling up my nose. Minerally, apple peel, & sulfur. Finally settling down a tad, I get fragrant, floral apple flesh, creamy/concentrated apple juice, & just enough acidity. Taste is lighter then the smell would suggest. Sizzling, but softly beaded carbonation. Bittersweet apples & unripened tart fruit flesh. Thin. A bit yeasty. Lots of wood. Big, lingering vanilla finish. Not as good as the regular stuff(& vastly different at every turn), but it’s still pretty tasty as far as ciders go.
