Description
Hill Farmstead Brewery is the culmination of many years of travel and insight—of experience and education—of friendships and explorations. The brewery is the revival and continuation of 220 years of Hill heritage and hand crafted history in North Greensboro, Vermont. Its logo is retrieved from a sign that once hung in Aaron Hill's (our great(x3) grandfather) tavern, just up the hill, in the early 1800s.

On tap at Blackback.
Poured into a tulip.
Appearance: hazy bronze/copper color with a finger's worth of white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: white grape-like to papaya-ish twangy dry sweetness with a light lemony to red grapefruity note sliding in for balance; super light clean malts further underneath
Flavor: melds the prior noted aromas to a fine dry sweet to lightly bitter to bittersweet quality; finishes semi-dry with a punchy sort of white grapey-skin-ish sort of accent
Texture: light to medium bodied; slightly sessionable; good smoothness with not much distracting anywhere - maybe just a very little bit of dryness probably from the Phantasm powder; good low-ish carb level and low hop bitterness assertiveness
Overall: a mostly good NEIPA I would have again.

375mL bottle drunk Apr 29, 2026.
Yum! Classic aromas of mineral-rich HF culture. Nicely fruity and bright, but elegant. Don't really think sorghum has a distinctive aroma, though I usually associate it with a rich cherry-like character. Some mild pineapple/Brett lingering. Nice. Relaxed, polished, elegant stuff.
Soft and easygoing in the mouth. Low but pleasing acidity with apple-like notes (?), mild Brett-like pineapple, honey-like malt/sorghum and a fine, if somewhat lazy carbonation. Sweeter than their usual stuff, unsurprisingly given the sorghum syrup, but lovely nonetheless. If this is the future of GF beers, I'd like to be a part of that.

Canned 4/6/26, drunk 4/29/26.
Fruity and juicy, but not disgustingly-so. Lots of lovely, mineral-rich yeast and water notes with soft white wine and lots of wheat and honey-like notes from the grain. Big stonefruit emerging more and more as it warms. Bright and balanced with a speck of toasted grain, even.
Luscious apricot-nectarine with kumquat and pepper. Soft, chewy texture with big depth but well-attenuated. Really nice balance throughout. There's a good grain character with a speck of toast, some chewiness to add body and tons of mineral, good bitterness and a bit more unusual stone fruit and kumquat in place of the ubiquitous citrus-mango-whatever. Glad they augmented this instead of just using the Centennial. The Centennial is lovely and all (wood, pepper, earth) but doesn't provide much brightness, fullness, roundness, etc...

Growler pour shared by AdamChandler--thanks, Adam! Deeply hazy, dark yellow, ephemeral fizzy head, no lacing. Aroma is strong grapefruit and white grape over herb with light spice. Taste is somewhat astringent grapefruit with citrus, white grape. Smooth texture, flat-to-soft carbonation, finish as taste with lingering hop bitterness and yeast. Good but wasn't expecting either the astringency or bitterness and weirdly flat.

Bottle (9/27/16) pour shared by Chalumeaux--thanks, TJ! Dark, maple syrup brown, trace sparkle, nice viscosity, no head, lacing. Aroma is strong, yeasty, tart fruit, funky, dark malts. Taste is strong tart-sour fruit, yeast, bready malt. Smooth texture, thin bodied, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Don't love tart/sour but this is well made.
