Description
Hill Farmstead Brewery is the culmination of many years of travel and insight—of experience and education—of friendships and explorations. The brewery is the revival and continuation of 220 years of Hill heritage and hand crafted history in North Greensboro, Vermont. Its logo is retrieved from a sign that once hung in Aaron Hill's (our great(x3) grandfather) tavern, just up the hill, in the early 1800s.

750mL growler filled 1/18/26, drunk 2/27/26.
Lovely wood smoke with a slightly salty edge to it. It's not Schlenkerla levels, but it's more robust than just twigs and old campfire. Clean malt behind adds raisin-specked caramel with brown sugar and not-overdone breadiness easily balancing the smoke. Lightly peppery, herbal hop helps, as well.
Rich caramel malt with light bread and notes of dates and brown sugar. Nicely malty while remaining not too chewy or intense. The smoke is felt after the fact, on the edges of the tongue, sort of lingering with a nice char and pepper. All that said, I was hoping for a bit more attenuation. While it's far from too sweet, it's a bit chewy and sluggish on the finish, where'd I'd like to see crisp and snappy instead. While I like that it creates more appeal to everyone, including those who don't want a glass of bacon, I'd still like to see more smoke character, especially in the flavor.

Bottle shared by Chris: pours orange with a small head. Aroma is light mellow farmhousey yeast, with notes of flowers and light fruitiness. The different malt character is evident enough from the nose. Taste is lightly sweet, slight sourness. Ample body. Very drinkable.

Draught @ Fools Gold, Manhattan NYC (Aug 2025). Hazy dark yellow-orange like peach juice, large creamy beige head, coriander/mint-citrus aroma, adequate carbonation, medium bitter unripe mango-coriander-citrus taste, smooth body, long finish. Great flavors!

Damn that’s good. Bright lemony tang, relaxed acidity, a little grass, botanicals, tangerine, soft background funk, moderate salinity. Hugely drinkable.

Reviewed from notes.
Can to becher.
Appearance: thick burnt orange color with a finger and a half's worth of white foamy head which slid off very nicely to leave some mild lace.
Aroma: bittersweet citrus pith, citrus juice, grapefruit rind, piney hops, orangey hops over some very clean malts
Flavor: pure bittersweet juicy and resinous blend of those prior noted aromas, finishes clean amongst those hops
Texture: medium bodied, sessionable, good clean smoothness along my tongue
Overall: very nicely done NEIPA extremely welcome again in my life.

750mL bottle drunk 2/4/26, as pictured.
Lots of rich wine-like character with little hop remaining. Not overly woody, but there's certainly some barrel tannin structure. Mostly lactic acid here (as far as the Brett/Lacto/Acetic balance), but it's mostly round and fruity. Still very healthily aromatic with no oxidation or anything strange going on.
Interesting and different than expected. Lightly woody and lightly toasty with lots of lactic acidity, but not too much, and there's still a reasonable body/texture here at 5 years old. Some fruitiness and mild Brett retronasal, with cherry and plum lingering, as well. Overall, just a really easygoing, lightly woody, fruity, drinkable farmhouse ale with some interesting barrel and mixed culture character. Balance is quite lovely currently.
