Description
Hill Farmstead Brewery is the culmination of many years of travel and insight—of experience and education—of friendships and explorations. The brewery is the revival and continuation of 220 years of Hill heritage and hand crafted history in North Greensboro, Vermont. Its logo is retrieved from a sign that once hung in Aaron Hill's (our great(x3) grandfather) tavern, just up the hill, in the early 1800s.

Draft. A yellow beer with a lazing white head. The aroma has notes of lemons, spices, dusty hops, and newly cut hay. The flavor is sweet with notes of hay, straw, lemons, and dustsy hops, leading to a bitter finish. The body is light.

On tap at the Gingerman NYC. Rating 6000. Pours with a hazed golden hued body with a lasting white head. Aromas are super hoppy, with tropical fruit, tangerine, grapefruit, lightly dank with a light caramel malt character. Very clean. Maybe some Centennial in the hop bill? Flavors are bready, biscuity, dry, bitter, orange, tangerine. Really hoppy and dry. Very well made in a West Coast style. Lively, dry and bright. Hoppy and fresh, very solid!

Courtesy of daknole. Growler at the Black Friday Tasting pours clear deep gold with big off white head. Certainly has held up very well. The aroma is big gulps of mango, malt sweetened tangelo and grapefruit and faint sweet maltiness around the edges. The taste is just as yummy as the nose with thick citrus hops running from tangelo to orange peel to malt sweetened grapefruit like hoppiness. The hops begin with chewy malt enhanced flavor hops and grow quickly into a pleasing level of bitterness. Darn nice IIPA.

Farmhouse, Burlington, VT 12oz ($6.50): Pours a beautiful black with a brown head. Aroma is burnt malts, burnt malts, and smoke, and burnt malts. Normally, I would say a porter has chocolate and coffee; this one doesn’t. All that there is is burnt malts and a delicious sweet fruitiness. It’s like candy that went through a fire of deliciousness. That being said, this is anything but a chugger. I had to nurse this baby, but each wee sip was a pleasure. I like this beer, and am not surprised that it somehow found itself in the 100th percentile.

Bottle shared by beace at Jackie O’s. The beer is a hazy yellow-gold color with a thin white head that evaporates to wispy patches. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma is mildly funky with notes of yeast, citrus and wheat. Light body with flavors of citrus, wheat, earthy malt and yeast. The finish is fruity with a short yeast aftertaste. Above average overall.

Bottle muled by oteyj, thanks very much! Murky dark maroon color, tiny brown head had to be coaxed. Aroma of whiskey, vanilla, chocolate syrup. Taste is whiskey, coffee, vanilla. Slightly too much whiskey, I think, but not bad. Can’t tell it apart from an imperial stout.
