Description

Bottle picked up from Bottle Shop in Munich and consumed at home Sunday 16th September 2018 after eating a great homemade Baba Ghanoush and a Chicken Tagine outdoors. Pours hazy mid amber with a nice sticky white head. This really reminds me of a beer and I am racking my brain trying to think what it is. A little syrupy sweetness, some pine resin, this is very good and rather different to your usual German beer. A solid IPA, perhaps a touch sweet but good hoppiness throughout and a great bitterness. Bottle at Ambar, Munich. Fine foam, medium brown, light malty aroma. Sweet as expected for a strong imperial, but well balanced with a bit of sourness. Decent hop load but not overpowering. Would and did drink again ;-)

5 August 2018. At Ammutson, Vienna. Cheers to Anke!
Pours clear golden with a lasting, foamy, white head; some lacing. Aroma of lime juice, orange peel, mango, bready malt, pine, unripe tangerine. It tastes light fruity sweet, hints of mango & orange, a bit bready, and light to medium hoppy bitter, quite piney. Dryish, piney, bit resinous hoppy finish, faintly grapefruity, with a yeasty back. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Plain good IPA, not entirely my thing.

Fläschla (Dank, Max!): Literally black, small and slowly collapsing brown head; moderate sourish-bitter nose of chocolate, vanilla and toasted malt, some weak fruity traces of dried berries hardly detectable; pretty solid dryish bitter-sourish flavour with a certain residual sweetness; medium to full bodied, not so soft; lingering finish of bitter-chocolate and toasted malt. Not the worst drink for a warm summer evening...
