Nagahama Yell Ale 5% Orange matte color with light beige foam and yeast floaters but that might be as it got shook up coming to Maruyama Park. Yeasty bready aroma, medium body with stone fruit notes. Kind of rough/rushed but ok.

Tap at Nagahama. Their weizen with plums added. MEdium gold, cloudy, with a thick, fine head. Nose is ume plums, peaches, orange, wheat. Fruity, tangy, wheat, creamy, light banana. Nice plum but would prefer a bit more. Light, not sweet. Enjoyable.

Bottle from Liquor Mountain. Quite a pretty deep reddish brown color with a fine, thick, tan head. Arioma is big on resiny hops and pine, but with grapefruit and lemon, coffee, dark chocolate and some caramel too. Resiny and roasty. Flavor is woody, roasty, resins, some citrus and 100% cacao chocolate. Very bitter. Not bad but far more roasty than I like in the style. Crisp and light body. prolonged bitterness from burnt malt and bittering hops.

Tap at Ogaki Festival. Reddish brown with a Tight head. Nose is dark brown malts, chocolate, caramel, bread, light fruitiness. Flavor is chocolate, bready, sweet and tangy fruit that I would not guess was pomegranate if I did not know. Hides its 7%.

Bottle from Likaman. Golden orange to amber, a touch of haze, and a tall, thick, fine head. Nose is..guess what? Sorachi ace. Lemon, cedar, butter, cream, plus rich honey and biscuit malts and a touch of caramel. There is also a bit of the funk from their house yeast. Sweet malt, creamy as hell, lemon, that diacetyl-like Sorachi-ness, plus a nicely, surprisingly bitter and herbal finish. I don't really dig this hop but this isn't bad. Maybe a little too bitter after all. Fun use of the hop.

Nagahama Belgian White Dull copper color with a thick soapy head of foam. Bready eggy wheat with some zesty tangy lemon. The taste is kind of muted but the zesty lemon in the finish is nice. Passable.

New Nagahama Release Nagahama Minami Hankyu Pale Lager 7% Made with NZ hops, opaque orange gold with a slinky earthy but also lemony aroma. Medium bodied with a dry finish and a slightly chalky mouthfeel. Quite bitter green lemony herbal hops. Kind of a wonky aftertaste. For 370¥+to I’d say pass on this one.

Can from Seijo Iishi in Tokyo. Golden with a white head. Aroma of citrus, hops and some caramel. The same in the taste. The finish was medium bitter.

Clear golden with a small white head. Aroma of malt, perfume, fruity and green weedy hops with a touch of yeast. Flavour is light moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle from Liquor Mountain. Nose of burnt wood, licorice, soy sauce, chocolate, light coffee. Rich, malty, roasty nose. Nice. Shiny pitch black with a pretty tan head. Nicely roasty, dark chocolate, cafe au lait, berries. Complex, big, and well put together. Very fruity. Good stuff.
