brown and cloudy, malty, sour smell. The beer starts malty, Weizen-typical, very nice caramel, nice yeasty clove, banana with milk chocolate. The mainpart is even more aromatic, Nice and smooth. The aftertaste is long, milk chocolate, banana and clove, not too sweet, creamy nice. --> 13/12/13/13

Tap at Hellers, May 2013. Really, a kolsch? Opaque gold color and a lacing head. Lightly sour with some wheat. Rather muddled flavor and aroma, and what is there is neither very flavorful or very good at all.

At Hellers, May 2013. Clear gold and lacing head. Malt. Not bad actually, and these kolschs are so similar, I didn’t pick up anything wrong with this to the point I would say it is inferior to the others. solid palate again.

Half-litre flip-top: best before May 2013, poured into a ’Gaffel Kolsch’ glass three times @ home on 16 Nov 2012. Typical Kolsch look: clean, clear and golden, large white head which tries to stay around on each pour (not your typical Kolsch really then, because the head usually buggers off before I’ve even seen it!). The nose and taste are semi-sweet biscuity malty with hints of cereal and hops. No great flavours here, but when do you get those in a Kolsch? I don’t dislike the style: there is nothing to dislike, I just wish the delicate flavours would grow some balls one day and surprise me! This is just above your average Koln brew in my eyes, more for it’s head than flavours to be honest.
