Dark brown head, pitch black color. I couldn’t figure out the nose at first, but after it warmed up a bit I got sensous milk chocolate, dark fruit and licorice and BBQ sauce. Very light bodied with milk chocolate dancing in the mouth. The finish is a bit watery, but still has some decent hop presence. Decent stuff.

An orange beer with a white head. The aroma is sour malty as if brewing cereal has been used. The flavor is dry malty while the body is thin.

Clear amber in colour with a thin white head. Aroma of caramel, glue & alcohol. Light-bodied; Astringent taste with tart flavours up front that make the mouth pucker. Aftertaste clean after a while, but bittered for most of it. Overall, pretty bad by itself, but sampled together with the Scharer’s Lager, makes them BOTH taste bad! Still...neat to try, and the last beer on the trip to Australia with JonR888710 and Haddon90...Thanks guys! I sampled this beer on draught at the Australian Hotel on the Rocks in Sydney, Australia on 09-June-2004.

Golden coloured body with some light orange highlights and a thinnish white off-white head. Aroma of nice light hops (with more of a floral quality), pale malt and some slight caster sugar essences. Light to Medium-bodied; Assertive hoppiness (compared to other Aussies) with a strong malt backbone the whole way. Long refined aftertaste showcasing the malt, but bringing bitterness to the palate with the hops. Overall, a nice and welcome variation from the norm with subpar Aussie beers to date. I sampled this 12 ounce bottle at the Crown Casino on 03-June-2004 in Melbourne, Australia.

Pale golden coloured body with little else to it. Subtle hops in the nose with some of a malt essence. Light-bodied; Minimal taste throughout with some malt and little hops and pungent flavours. Aftertaste was completely clean and bland. A good beer for light food if you want little to no taste. I sampled this 12 ounce bottle at the Crown Hotel on 04-June-2004 in Melbourne, Australia.

2003 bottle with thanks to Mutant. Pours a dull brown, light and drab with a light tannish head. Aroma has some lightly sweet notes, but also a hint of refreshing bitterness from the hops. Flavor starts out with a hint of malty sweetness and then some hops mix in and it becomes a chocolatey, hoppy treat, balanced and flavorful. Seems like a dunkelweizen to me, lots of chocolate and soft malt, with a hint of banana esters, no real bubble gum. The wheat adds a great element, giving it a more chewy and full body. Ends on a dry and bitter coffee note, with some hops still alive in there. Great stuff, though no real complexities. Just an easy drinking dunkelweisse (I think it is anyways.)

2003 bottle from Mutant (Thanks!). Pours well enough, dark brown with some lighter magenta/red tinges. Clear, not bottle conditioned. Small light tan colored head. Aroma of sweet syrupy caramel, rich toffee and tons of sweet oats. Flavor is very oaty, chewy/syrupy and quite sweet. Like creamy oatmeal with lots of brown sugar. Hops are not terribly apparent, maybe some bitterness on the finish. Not overly complex, though, and it does get a bit sweet. Lots of milk chocolate and caramel. Yeast apparent on the finish as well. Interesting, but I’d like more bitterness and complexity.
