Draft. Hazy amber beer with a nice off-white head. Light citrus/fruity hop aroma with yeast. Yeasty, estery, hoppy (fruity, some pine (?)) flavor. Medium body. Lingering yeasty hops with the hops coming on more as you drink.

Strong malty aroma backed by some citrus hop. Ruby toned amber color with a white head that is minimalist. Starts with a full mouthfeel, sweet darkish malt, and strong citrus hop. It’s fairly balanced, and the hop bitterness is stronger in the finish than the case with many barleywines. Not excessively complex; straight forward. Very nice sipper.

Whoo! The resiny pine hop aroma is so intense that it suggests fresh cat p... Joking, I think. Fantastic aroma. Hazy orange amber color with a mobile white head that enthusiastically laces. The start is like evergreen. I don’t taste citrus, but pineapple I can believe. The mouthfeel is firm. It’s almost smooth. The mouth impact is hop. 101 IBU? Can that be measured? It has legs like good wine. Or at least the illusion of such. It’s almost creamy. Finish? My mouth is probably finished for the evening. No way that hop is wearing off soon. I have no idea why this is not on the "best" list.

Double-deuce at wine frig temp. Delicious aroma of spicy hop and a light touch of ripe fruit - peach, pear... Nice hazy amber color; bits of yeast in suspension. Nice white head that lessened, but stayed, and did some fine lacing. Starts a bit spicy, then did some complex altering impressions of spice and ripe fruit. Very smooth. Nice mouthfeel. The spice carries into the finish, and finally some bitter arrives. Real ale. Real tasty. Better than a whole lot of Belgians. Funny thing - what jarspag said below - the underlying alcohol effect is something like a malt liquor - thankfully this brewer used some decent yeast and hop in abundance.

Bomber; nose of citrus hops, light fruit, and caramel; clear cherry brown with a small beige head; flavor is lots of hop bitterness, plums, and acaramel from a medium thin body, with hop bitterness and some alcohol in the finish! Not a great barlewine!

Slightly hazy golden coloured body with a very thin off-white head. Aroma of strong fresh hops, metal, nickel, malt and even more strong scents of hops mixed with metal. Medium-bodied; Super strong bittering taste up front from the hops along with a potent metallic twang afterwards. Aftertaste shows citrus, floral and especially piney hops coupled with more of the unfortunate metallic tastes. Overall, still a very nice and strongly hopped beer - definitely one to try. Overall, one that was almost more reminiscent of an IPA than most other APAs, but very good - especially for hop lovers! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 18-April-2007.

12 oz bottle; nose of ivy smelling hops; I have picked this aroma up in several IPAs, but don’t know which hop causes it. Hazy copper with a small beige head; flavor of hop bitterness from the medium body lasting well into the finish. Excellent!

Bottle from Country Club Liquors; nose of wheat, caramel, cloves and spices; lightly hazy pale copper with a good yellowish head; flavor of bananas, cloves, caramel, and breadiness. Pretty good tripel!

Bottle, at csbosox KC tasting 4/14. Bottle provided by csbosox, thanks Chris! Pour is cloudy straw yellow. Smallish off-white head. Taste is malt, yeast and hop in that order. There are also banana and clove in there as well. After taste sticks around just a touch too long for me.

On tap at the Bocktown. Pour is a big white head on top of a ubiquitous pale yellow american beer color. Aroma of slight hops and copper, not much more. An interesting variation on a hop flavor. Not extremely hoppy but enough for some personality. Meduim low carbonation. Finish is OK but it does leave a lingering bitterness on your palate for a few moments. About average for an APA. APAs are just one step less offensive than IPA. Not quite as good as Erie Brewing Hard Cock Ale.
