Description
Centuries of brewing tradition, the best ingredients and strict compliance with the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516 are quality that you can taste with every sip! The Rittmayer Brewery is one of the oldest breweries in Forchheimer Land. The family business dates back to 1422. The brewery even received its own coat of arms certificate from the Count of Kulmbach because of its good beer.
In spring 2012, our new brewery on the outskirts of Hallerndorf went into operation right next to our filling center. It is one of the most innovative medium-sized breweries in all of Germany.

10-04-21 // RB-tasting. Taster. Very easy. More lagerlike with a mild to medium peatyness, roasted malt bitterness. Easy drinking.

Bottle from Hausmann. Dark black with very little head. Light but smoky nose. Flavor is nicely mild roasted malty, with very light smoky campfire notes. Smooth and easy drinking Rauchbier, nice mouthfeel. Seems more like a Schwarzbier than Stout honestly.

330 ml bottle. Unclear amber, fluffy head. A lot of smoke, smoked bacon, lard, burnt pine needles and wood, hints of single malt whiskey. Malty sweetness, dry bitterness, umami. Full to medium bodied, oily texture, soft carbonated, dry smoky bittersweet finish. Good.

330ml bottle. Clear, darkest brown colour with ruby shimmer and average, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, beige head. Rather weak, mildly peaty, smoky, roasty dark malty and caramel malty aroma, a touch of leather, TCP, grainy, bready malty undertones. Taste is sweet-ish, caramel malty, mildly peaty and smoky, minimally roasty and dark chocolately, bready malty hints of dark rye bread, pumpernickel, subtle, treacle-like sweetness. Creamy texture, super soft, smooth palate, fine, soft to flat carbonation. Not overly Stout-ish, more bready than roasty malty, nice peaty smoky touch - OK.

Heller Cornflakesgeschmack mit leichter Bitterkeit. Trocken, moderate Süße, leicht ansteigende Herbe. Trocken getreidig, mittellanger Abgang. Gut trinkbar aber doch ziemlich langweilig. 10/7/8/7/6/8

330 ml bottle. Clear golden, small fluffy head. Grass, metallic hops, citrus, hay. Hoppy bitterness. Medium bodied, oily texture, lively to soft carbonated, hoppy metallic bitter finish. A very crisp and bitter Pilsner, not too balanced and rather North German despite its Franconian origin.

Amber with a frothy to creamy white head. Aroma is a mild dose of woodsmoke over toffee and mixed grains. Taste is mildly bitter the whole way though, finishing with roasted graininess and oily caramel, the last of which lingers. Body to the light side of medium, moderate to mild carbonation, mixed watery and oily texture. Not a top of the line Rauchbier but still pleasant. Might be a good introduction beer for someone new to the style.

Rittmayer Smoked Stout, Sonderedition zum 30-jährigen Jubiläum des Nürnberger Whiskyclubs 'The Most Venerable Order of the Highland Circle', Fläschchen von Ganicks Flaschbierschop. - Tiefdunkles Kastanienbraun. (5.2.2021.)
