Bottle imported by shelton bros. states "thiriez blonde" - mostly golden with a hint of copper tint - foamy carbonation, lasting head - perfume-like, herbal nose, mild sweetness with hints of flowers (mostly lavender), some barnyard/earthiness - carbonation is soft on the tongue - quite hoppy for the style, but tasty - very light sweetness - lavender from the aroma makes an appearance - very grainy, with small hints of vegetables - this beer has a very "organic" feel, if that makes any sense - not the greatest biere de garde in the world, but certainly worth a try.

2005? Bottle at American Flatbread with Muzzlehatch. Popping the cork yields an odd hops aroma of dill pickles. Not heavy on the vinegar or pickle so much as it is heavy on the dill. Fades to a lighter (but still strong) wet cut grass, light cumin and slight rotting grassiness. Like a mix of Styrian Goldings and Northern Brewer. Deep amber body with a white head, large and creamy, mostly dissipating. Hints of grapefruit rind, notes of sawdust. Flavor is Belgian yeast, pils malt and bitter hops. It has some funk to it, but just gets drowned out in the thick honey-cream malt and sharply bitter hops. Bitter and sweet fight for dominance and in the end, it’s just too much of both for me. Though to be fair, it still seems well-made and perhaps is just having problems with being very young. Not the distinct, but yet refined perfuminess of the DeRankeXX and way too heavy handed on the malt sweetness.

Bottled. Nearly black. Roasty chestnut aroma. Sweetish with lengthy nutty malt flavour. Low hop rate. Salty, woody finish. One of these French ales that balances thed edge between porter and belgian ale.

Bottled. Dark brown beer with a strong fluffy head. The aroma is typically biere de garde fermented fruit, and the flavour is warming, strong and generally alcohol based. Overall a reasonable French beer.

Hazy light brown beer with a fairly strong fermented fruit aroma and quite a fermented mulled wine flavour. Overall quite a basic biere de garde, and quite watery.

Amber beer with a very strong frothy head, and a strong fruity aroma. The only problem with this beer is that its flavour is basically dry making it not particularly palatable. Overall a disappointing beer.
