Keg at BD Sheps B. It pours near black with a small tan head. The nose is toasty, roasted malt, earth, cocoa and underlying sweetness. The taste is soft, bitter, roasty, chocolate, toasted coconut, pine, earth, charred wood, coffee, light acidity, pepper with a pretty dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Pretty easy going stuff. Decent.

Keg at BrewDog Shepherd’s Bush, London. A black coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Roasty, chocolate aroma. Tastes roasty, chocolate, hint of coconut, slightly dry.

Keg at the Shepherd’s Bush, BrewDog - London. Pours clear, dark brown with a creamy, tan head. The aroma holds well toasted bread, gints of milk chocolate and toasted coconut. Medium sweet flavor with low bitterness, further milk chocolate, lightly burnt brown bread. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with pleasant milk chocolate, faint coconut essence, some earth, slight rubber, understated roast. Nice stuff overall.

Bottle from Spirited Wines, Manchester. Black with a large bubbly off-white head. Has a potent tropical fruit hoppiness, It’s strong tasting with a light roasted malt evident, but still with a good dose from the tropics.

Bottle at home, thanks to Kenny for ordering and tdtm82 for the legwork, 15/05/14. Lightly hazed golden with a mdoerate off white covering that stays for the show. Nose is bitter tangerine, straw, Cointreau, light spice, figs, ripe dates, prune, woody notes, light booze fumes. Taste comprises subtle BA notes, more Cointreau, tropical fruit tangs, pineapple, boozey piney licks. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light boozey petticoat. Nice stuff, this grew on me more as it warmed a little, subtle BA, never sweet or sticky, a nice tropical infused number.

Cask at CPK, London on 28th April 2014. Almost black with thin tan foam and no lacing. Malt and rich spice in aroma. Spicy, malty and bitter in-mouth. Richly malty finish with citric notes and smoke. Zingy mouthfeel and fair body.

Bottle from Valhalla’s Goat, Glasgow. It pours hazy amber with a small off-white head. The nose is earthy, barnyard, dough, floral and touch of funk. The taste is bitter-sweet, doughy, tart fruity aspect, elderflower, candied citrus and spice with a crisp, dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. The introduction of elderflower really elevates it beyond the base beer. Nice.

Bottle from Valhalla’s Goat, Glasgow. It pours hazy deep amber with a medium white head. The nose is doughy, peppery, light sweetness, florals and a touch of citrus peel. The taste is bitter-sweet, over-ripe banana, dough, spice, sugar citrus fruits, candy, apple, pear and earth with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Erring towards the sweet side for me and just not as drinkable as I had hoped for. Still, not bad.

Keg at Craft Beer Co. Covent Garden. It pours hazy golden with a medium white head. The nose is doughy, orange, lemon and some grassy/herbal notes in the background. The taste is bitter, orange, grapefruit pee, stone fruits, dough, grass and light spice with a dry finish. Light-medium body and fine carbonation. Solid low-abv hoppy number, but I preferred some of the other batches more.

Craft Clerkenwell. Cask. Opaque dark brown beer, small bubbly tan head. Palate is light and dry with fine carbonation. Light thin dark malts, watery dark chocolate. Mild roast bitterness, well buried. Equally mild lactose. Something vaguely citric before the light dry finish. A bit thinned out but not too bad.
