What a disappointment. I love a good dubbel and they are hard to find. This one has little to offer for a rather expensive beer. There is a light apple aroma which makes me think the beer might have been spoiled, but the best by date was over a year away and it was stored appropriately. A dark brown beer. Malt flavor, but not nearly enough of it; and no fruit at all. Thin body, and clear appearance. I will have to try it again, but I didn’t like their their tripel either so maybe there is something about this brewery that doesn’t work for me.

Bottle from Once Upon a Vine - South on 07/11/2010. Best before end 19/01/12. Bottled on 19/01/10 - 05 03896. Slightly hazy pale golden body with a moderaterocky white head. Sweet spicy and perfumy hop aroma on a light malt background. Sweet fruit, candi sugar, and spicy/perfumy notes with a very dry finish. Medium body with moderately high carbonation. 7/3/8/3/14 - 3.5 12/31/2005 - Very frothy white head on a hazy blond body. Very spicy aroma and a very fruity flavor. 6/4/7/4/15 - 3.6

Dark, strong taste as well as a delicious aroma. Fruity and bitter sweet. A good beer, I think Ill have another sometime. Re-rate. Pours a deep mahogany with a rather thin tan head. Aroma is of dark fermented fruits, malt, alcohol, and candy sweet. Has a medium carbonated mouth. Flavor is dark fruits, malty, and slight alcohol. Finishes with a bit sweet with alcohol. Not as strong in flavor as I remember, but impressive none the less. Tasty.

Definetely the least impressive Trappist beer. I shared this with aceofhearts. Cloudy golden color, malty nose that kind of reminds me of being in a brewery and smelling fresh wort. Like a weak triple. Second run.... Third run triple??? Oranges and yeast in mouth, very carbonated and a very dry finish that I didn’t care for.

Bottle: Cloudy, dark amber coloured, thin, but lasting beige head; sweet malty (caramel) and a bit vinous nose, dried fruit and a tinge of balsamico; sweet flavour with a tinge of bitterness; dryer fruity finish(bananas) with some chocolatey bitterness; medium to full bodied, creamy mouthfeel; well done, but not complex.......................

Bottled. Deep reddish-brown with a massive, tan belgo-head. Very appealing appearance. Aroma of spices and alcohol with a pronounced malty sweetness and bitterness. Balanced flavor with mostly the same elements. Long warming aftertaste with little bitterness. Rating: 7-5-8-4-17-4.1. (051109)
Bottle, in appropriate glass. It pours a loevely more or less clear body, brown, with a ruby glow, and with a thick, creamy beige head on top. Really firm head, it doesn’t level when I start sipping the beer, but form holes and bumps, and a lovely set of lacings. Dried fruits like raisins and prunes, dark sugars, a little spiced touch, some notes of alcohol and a little caramel. Some faint chocolate notes too? It’s quite effervescent in the mouth, sort of palate cleansing, but still sweet enough not too accomplish that. I could wish for a fuller body, but the flavors, prunes, berries, raisins, dark sugars, some alcohol and a little spicyness, are just lovely. There’s a pleasant bitterness towards the finish, managing to harness the sugars. This is a beer I return to quite frequently, and it goes well all the year, even in the summertime. (080611)

Bottled. Hazy yellowish orange colour, small creamy beige head. Apricot in aroma along with malty hints. Dry apricot and some berries in flavour. Quite dry finish, weak berries in aftertaste.

Bottled @Akkurat
Hazy orange, good creamy white head. Citrusy nose. Citrusy, hoppy, grassy, small brother of Westmalle Tripel. Grassy long aftertaste. Still need a couple of trappists to complete the list :)

Bottle. Clear goloden colour with bubbly thin white lasting head. Orange and yeasty nose with some cereal and some alcohol. Good in mouth slightly caramel flavour and some orange rind. Leads to a very hoppy finish . Not too many flavours but they are good and subtle. Nice tripel. 2005. Man was I dumb back in 2005. Bottle at Kipps Alehouse Folkestone. Clear gold lasting white head. Good peach and apricot. Just lovely in the mouth. Stupidly drinkable some hop bite on the finish. Excellent. Stand out tripel.4.0. Re rate I didn't have it for years then couldn't stop drinking it. 4.5 awesome tripel

I have only managed to have this one a couple of times over the years. Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark chestnut color with a small tan head. The aroma was malty with molasses and dark fruit. The flavor is malty with raisin and fig notes, a hint of tobacco and faint astringency. Medium length finish. Medium body
