Description
Started brewing in August 2008 on the site of the Sweet William brewery at the William IV pub in Leyton. Regular outlets include the William IV, the Old Coffee House (Soho) and the Crosse Keys (Covent Garden). In 2018 Brodies sold the King William IV in Leyton and contracted out beer production to Rhymney Brewery in South Wales.

Cask-conditioned at the Old Fountain, Old Street 11/02/10. Hazy amber with a slight white head. Slightly sweet, fruity aroma with a suggestion of honey. Flavour was much the same with plenty of bitterness and the honey becoming evident in the aftertaste. Forgettable.

Cask at Cross Keys, Covent Garden, London. Good pale golden colour. Decent fluffy head on this one. Fresh hoppy aroma. Hoppy, fruity, slightly bitter taste. Very refreshing and quaffable London IPA.

Cask@Old Coffee House, Soho, London (As Brodies East End Bitter, 4.0%). Amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is caramel, rather sweet malts as well as some slight toasted and grassy/wooden notes. Flavour is bitter hops, some caramel and mild wooden and vanillaish notes. Pleasant bitter.

Cask-conditioned at the Edgar Wallace, London 27/01/10. Near black with a slight tan head. Aroma of dark fruit and roasted malts with a touch of chocolate. Easy drinking, with more of the same and a decent, bitter finish. Good.

Cask-conditioned at the Cross Keys, Covent Garden, 10/01/10. Pale gold with a decent, tight white head. Aroma of sweet malts and grapefruit hops. Flavour was much the same, with a dryish finish. Ok.

Cask @ Wenlock Arms, Hoxton, London N1. Pours a slightly hazy yellow color with a samll whitehead. Has a fruity citrus hoppy aroma. Sweetish malty fruity hoppy citrus flavor. Has a fruity malty citrus hoppy finish.

Cask gravity at Pig’s Ear BF 09. This I thought was excellent. Black, lovely roasted choc. REally good, doesn’t taste of the ABV. Really good malts, made me melt. Excellent.

Cask gravity at Pig’s Ear BF 09. Fairly intense black impy stout. Lots of bitter roastedness, lacks a bit of fullness. Carbonation makes the flavours a bit tight. Decent bitter choc. Chemical glue aroma. Lovelyish.

Cask @ Volunteer Arms, GBBF 2009. Pours a golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity citrus hoppy aroma. Fruity malty citrus hoppy flavor. Has a fruity malty citrus hoppy finish.

Slightly hazy golden with a lasting white head. Very nice clean aroma with peaches, roses, cedar wood and grass. Dry and bitter flavour with grass and wood notes.
