2009-09-03, draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 10-5-8-5-18=46
Cloudy amber color; small creamy head; end of the keg. Oh Lords of beer, this has a massive hop aroma, citrusy sweaty resiny and fruity; dusty cellar, dry hop leaves. Good body strength, with a rather smooth mouthfeel, even if the hopping is a lacerating experience; toffee flavor; the hop is extremely resiny and a bit fruity (bitter oranges), the bitterness induces headaches. Masochist pleasure.

2009-02-24, bottle at Akkurat, Stockholm, 9-5-8-5-17=44
with Tomahawk, Chinook, Athanum hops

Cloudy light amber color. Massive hop aroma, very fruity, grapefruit. Good body, powerful toffee, good residual sweetness, full throttle hop, extreme, fruity, resiny, killing, insane. One of the most extreme experiences.

Hazy amber color. Huge fruity aroma, resiny; aromas like a walk in a forest (freshly cut wood, pines…) very original and pleasant. Sweet, malty, extremely bitter taste: this is very good but more ordinary. The final has still a good share of sweetness, which is positive. Excellent.

(Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of Storm. Pours a hazy, amber golden with a small, off-white head. Extremely floral hop aroma. Loads of caramel, loads of fruit and a marked aromatic hop bitterness. 150306

Pours deep amber into a shaker. Medium sized head with good retention and lacing. Grapefruit and pine aromas. Upfront grapefruit with a bitter, lasting finish. Slick and fizzy. Not very balanced.

2005 bomber shared with OldGrowth on 2/25/06. The appearance is lovely, and all. Copper-bronze, amber and lightly wavy, with a foamy off-white head, light lacing and low to moderate filtration. The aroma knocks you down with floral-piney hops. Big, bold and in your face, with a light caramel, arbitrary maltiness. Sure, it smells hoppy, but come on, anyone can hop the hell out of a beer. This dosent seem to be exactly precise and well-thought-out. Just tons of pine and citrus. The flavor is hops. Hop bitterness to the max with biting citrus and pine, heavy acidity building on the palate right from the start and plenty of light caramel and just a touch of munich grains. Alcohol is well-hidden and the beer is well-made with well-extracted malt and all but it just burns. Intense hop acid and bitterness, overwhelming the flavor by far. If you love hops and nothing else, this is your beer. For the lack of balance, the bottle conditioned carbonation is engaging and light. Lightly creamy texture. As it warms, some light fruits and sugars emerge. A touch of buttercream is evident.

Bottled. Hazy amber. Massive grapefruit aroma. Sweet and thick, really full bodied. Sufficient malt to carry the massive hoppiness. Easy going for it’s size, yet very aromatic and flavourful. A juicy hop monster with some level of balance, but also rather one dimensional.

Bright amber colour. Fresh, herbal-fruity hop aroma. Big, chewy flavours. Lots of crystal malt and resiny hop. By the numbers IIPA can hardly evoke a comment from me.

Amer ale with a thine white head. Light caramel malt aroma without much hops. Sweet malt in mouth, with unbalanced harsh hops. Overall, an unpleasant ESB. Russian River Beer Revival & Barbecue Cook-Off, August 20, 2005.
