Cask/Gravity at The Swan Beer Festival, Islip 05-10-07 Poured a very dark amber some fruit, roasted notes and possible yeast on the nose. Initial taste reminds one more of a mild than a bitter but this slowly changes and a rather punchy bitter but still quite mild comes through. Nice lingering bitter finish, and a most enjoyable beer.

Cask gravity at St Albans BF 2007. Copper colour with thin beige head. Spicy aroma. Has an odd hop flavour to it. Nice enough, hop is very distinctive. Thickish in mouth due to alcohol. Bit lacking in malt back bone.

(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 7 Aug 2007) Chestnut brown colour with brief beige head. Malty, nutty nose with dark fruit and dusty hops. Malty, nutty taste with notes of dark fruit on a solid malt foundation, balanced dose of dusty hops in the finish. Hardly adventurous, but a good solid session bitter.

Cask gravity at Kent BF, Canterbury. Gold/copper with lasting white head. I rather like this, nice malt/hop balance, decent hop on end. Really enormously drinkable.
