[i]Cask at The Wellington pubs 5th Beer Festival, Wellington, Herefordshire[/i] Poured warm golden in colour, citrus notes dominated this beer’s nose. Tasted very fresh and crisp superbly bitter with very little sweetness, this was a good started.

Cask at Merton Summer Beer Festival 07-07-07. Poured black with very little head. This for me was the only beer that managed to challenge the Grand Union Simcoe and Bowman Quiver over the weekend and it did so very well sitting between the two in my ratings. A very convincing porter with great liquorice throughout, a touch of sourness maybe and some nice dried dark fruits thrown in for good measure. A lovely beer that tasted corking and I for one wasn’t upset at all that we were unable to get the Gorlokova from the same brewery as this was an excellent replacement.

Cask conditioned at The Lord Rosebery, Scarborough. Served a little too warm. ABV is 3.7%. Golden colour, moderate creamy head. Moderate but nice hoppy aroma with some citrussy notes. Tolerably hoppy flavour, but not remarkable. Dry finish.

Cask conditioned at The Lord Rosebery, Scarborough. Served a little too warm. ABV is 3.8%. Brown colour, minimal head. Moderate aroma, some malt. Reasonably hoppy flavour, "dusty" dry bitter finish. Decent, but not very complex.

Gravity at Reading BF 5/5/2007. Near black with a beige head. Aroma dominated by roasted notes and dark chocolate. Flavours of coffee, burnt fudge and more chocolate. Finish was long and dry. Good, but I would have expected a bit more from a 6% beer.

Cask gravity at Reading BF 2007. Very dark brown, thin bubbly tan head. Good roasted malt aroma. It’s pretty choccy and decent in the mouth. Lovely choc.

(Cask at Wenlock Arms, London 27 Apr 2007) Dark brown with ruby notes, frothy off-white head. Roasted nose with notes of coffee, chocolate, dark fruit and citrussy hops. Roasted taste with chocolate, hints of coffee and some citrussy hops in the finish. Uncomplicated but tasty.

Cask gravity at Planet Thanet BF 2007. Copper with bubbly beige head. Strong English hop aroma. Sour grapefruit. Biscuity malt in mouth. Well balanced. Good grapefruity hop on finish.

Cask gravity at London Drinker BF 07. Gold beer with thin white head. Ginger aroma, bit thin. But still got something about it. I thought it was pretty good. I like ginger beers on the whole and this one was a bit more subtle.

Cask handpull at The Fly in the Loaf, Liverpool. Great brewery Acorn, so I was excited to see this on. Hazy gold, thick beige head. Is this a wheat beer I see before me? According to the Acorn website, no. Lemon citrus aroma, large in mouth, plenty of depth and wide mouthfeel, possibly from the addition of some other cereal. Then great hoppy lemon/grapefruit finish. Really lovely, slightly creamy due to the use of a sparkler on the dispense.
