Cask (handpump) @ The New Oxford, 11 Bexley Sq, Salford, Manchester, England M3 6DB.Clear medium yellow color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, moderate hoppy, citrus, cat piss, elder flowers. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, nice hoppy. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20100425]

Cask gravity at Planet Thanet BF 2010. Recommendation from Martin the Mildman. Pale gold, thin white head. Lovely hoppy aroma. Some pale malt. Lovely strong hop on the finish. Hoppiest beer I had at the beer festival.

Cask handpull at The Fly in the Loaf, Liverpool. Gold, lasting off white head. Some grapefruity US hop in here. Verges on the sweaty but reigns it back. Love the grapefruit on the finish.

Bottle from Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa, CA. Pours really dark brown with ruby glints at the edges. Average foamy beige/tan head. Rich aromas of chocolate and toasted malt. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Flavor is largely chocolate with some dark burnt malt bitter. The chocolate leaves, the bitter stays. It’s really a good drink.

50cl bottle from Tesco, Solihull. Pours a slightly hazy magohany with a thin cream head; aromas of chocolate malt, vanilla and cedarwood; full and oily texture in the mouth, just packed with malts - really well balanced, with just a trace of chocolate, some caramel, some raisins, and some biscuity grains; there’s some underlying bitterness, but the malts really shine through in this. Excellent.

Cask, Fly in the Loaf, Liverpool. Amber colour with a small white head. Aroma predominantly malty with some trace fruit lurking also. Flavour was slightly sweet, with more malt, citrus and some decent if a tad subdued hoppage. Gently lingering bitter finish. A modest and generally above average effort.
