Description
Salopian Brewery first brewed in Shrewsbury in 1995. Founded by Martin Barry on the site of the old Onions Dairy and like many breweries the kit we first brewed on was small and rudimentary at only two barrels. Brewing ceased in late 1997 due to financial problems. Our chairman Wilf Nelson joined the brewery in 1998 – Wilf coming on board gave the brewery much needed stability and vision to move to forward and brewing recommenced in January 1998.
Slowly, as cash flow permitted, we upgraded our brewing kit and replaced rusty dented vans with slightly less rusty dented vans. It was the onset of brewing a more eclectic range of cask ale, whilst embracing both traditional styles and those of our locality. 2014 saw the brewery make its final move – we hope! – to the village of Hadnall on the outskirts of Shrewsbury.

Cask-conditioned at the Three Tuns, Bristol 1/10/10. Deep gold with a slight white head. Hoppy aroma with both grapefruit and a grassy edge. Flavour was well balanced with some decent sweetish malts and plenty of citrus hop, before a dry finish. Very enjoyable.

Clear gold beer. Little white head. Light palate - semi dry. Floral notes, light malt with a trace of caramel. Well balanced with fresh orangey hops. Finishes somewhat crisp. Decent.

Cask handpump consumed at The Three Fishes, Shrewsbury 28.08.10 Pours dark brown with a light beige head. Its fruity with a little soft chocolate and Loz detected a touch of smokiness. Fruity and sweetish, but nice, very hard to rate as this pub is totally rammed with a Morris Rapper side. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

Draft at Pizzeria Paradiso - Georgetown, Washington D.C. Poured a dark brown (almost black) color, with a off-white head. Aroma was roasty, chocolate hints, a touch of dried fruits. Flavor was similar as taste, complex roasted character, though very light in body.
