Description
At the Prancing Pony Brewery we are very proud of our unique story.
We believe that great beer should be brewed with passion and love, using the finest possible ingredients to create an array of complex, long flavours. Just like a long journey through the Sahara dessert, the flavour journey will be long and rewarding.
Our slow brewed beer and multi step mashing method crafts a beer with unsurpassed malt and caramel flavours. We refuse to filter our beers ensuring all those good flavours remain. We also bottle and keg condition so our beers can be stored for a long time. They just get better with the passing of time. The Pony says ”Dude it’s so good!”
At the Pony, our unique brewery door outlet “The Brewshed” is located right inside our commercial brewing space. There’s nothing as relaxing as watching our brewers hard at work while you enjoy the fruits of their labours with a beer tasting plank!

500ml bottle. Jet black colour with average to huge, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, dark beige head. Sweet-ish, dark malty aroma, notes of dark chocolate, some treacle, a touch of vanilla, fruity overtones of bramble and blueberry, plum butter. Taste is sweet-ish dark malty, bitter and fruity hoppy, slightly vinous, notes of dark chocolate, bramble, blueberry, black cherry, plum butter, blue grapes. Oily texture, smooth and soft, minimally sticky palate, efficacious, minimally prickly carbonation. Nice fruity notes in this one.

From a 330ml bottle on 6/1/2019 (label says 'Hunt for the Red Velvet, ABV 9.0%). Pours a murky amber with a small head. Has a modest aroma of burnt caramel and dark malt. Tastes sweet upfront - lots of caramel and dark fruit, followed by the sharpish, slightly vinous bitterness which not particularly roasty. It's a touch boozy and dessert like. Unusual and a bit of a mix between an IIPA and a scotch ale. Has a slick texture and moderate carbonaion. A pretty tasty sipper.

(Bottle) Pours hazy murky honey amber with tiniest white head. Nice aroma - orange, apricot, raisins, hint of toffee. Medium body, creamy, soft carbonation. Taste is rich and hoppy, with a good balance between some sweet carrack malt that’s only really apparent in the mid palate and the hops, which deliver some nice fruity notes up front and some decent bitterness in the finish. There’s some nice spice and some alcohol. Very good.

(Bottle) Pours hazy amber with small white head. Aroma is bread, with citrus notes, light body, good carbonation. Taste improves on aroma. A pleasant balance of light somewhat bready malt and citrus tang. There’s some nice bitterness in the finish. I detected oranges in the mix sometimes, but pretty subtle considering the name and hype on the bottle. Very drinkable.

Bottle shared at Cotteridge Convention 2017 - cheers all! Pours clear brown with a creamy tan head. The aroma holds tangy dark malts, chocolate, light ash. Medium sweet flavour with notes of chocolate, light booze, earth, brownies. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Lightly warming finish, more chocolate, simple dark malts, ample roast. Not bad.
