Description
Southwark Brewing Company was founded in 2014 by Peter Jackson and lifelong friend Andy Nichol.
Over 6 years, we have seen a lot of change and development. The brewery now has 6 fermenting vessels up from the 3 original ones, including a 20 Barrel FV commissioned in February 2020, in advance of a BIG sales drive (that wasn't well timed....)
We have brewed over 100 different beers and we have enjoyed every single one and there are a lot more to come.
Their keg range appears under the name 'Big Bear Brewery'.

Cask at the Victoria Station JDW. Poured a murky orange colour with little life. The aroma is mango, The flavour is moderate to light sour, with a super dry, tart mango, yeasty, spicy hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. It’s really a mango fruit juice with some alcohol and a few hops. Nice enough, but not a beer I’ll order again.

Cask by stillage at the River Ale House, Greenwich on 5th May 2025. Deep ruby brown with shallow foam and scant lacing. Nutty malt aroma. Hazelnut and honey sweetness in-mouth, and a sweet malty finish with walnut nuttiness. Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. Pleasant.

A 330ml bottle from the brewery. A deep black colour with a creme foamy head that lasts. Aromas of malt. Tastes a little smokey with malt, dry hopped finish.

Keg at the brewery. Clear copper gold. Poor excuse for a head is a translucent thin ring. Medium bitter. Resinous, herbs and spice. And that's it. No complexity. Light. Thin. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Initially added as a Golden Ale which shows what a lightweight APA it is.
