Description
Our beers are made of passion and knowledge, culture and innovation, memories and visions of endless worlds real and futuristic.

Giovanni Campari founded Birrificio del Ducato together with two other partners. Giovanni is still the brewmaster of the brewery, which officially began the production of craft beer on March 27th 2007 in Roncole Verdi, Busseto (PR). The historic production site was transformed into Sour Brewery in 2015, when we transferred the main brewery to the new headquarters in Soragna (PR). Here we produce the main beer lines, through a fully automated system, which includes advanced PLC controls and centrifugal separator. The brewery currently has a 60-hl 5-vessel brewhouse and a total cellar capacity of 1200 hl.

At the end of 2016 Duvel Moortgat acquired 35% of the shares of the brewery. In 2018 Duvel Moortgat acquired 70% of the brewery’s shares, investing its resources in a new laboratory and in a new bottling line.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm) Golden amber colour with huge, off-white head. Malty, slightly fruity nose with generous doses of floral, grassy hops and notes of citrus. Malty, slightly fruity taste with citrus, hay, loads of grassy hops and notes of grapefruit. Lovely hop character, rather dry, medium body. Sensational pilsener, very Jämtlands Hell-ish, but less aggressive and more balanced. Lovely beer!

(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm, 6 May 2008) Black colour with frothy, brown head. Malty, roasted nose with toasted grain, chocolate and cocoa. Malty, roasted taste with chocolate and smooth notes of coffee and dried fruit. Loads of cocoa and chocolate in a long smooth finish, rolling in wave after wave. Medium to full body, deceptively smooth, balanced bitterness. Wouldn’t suffer from a little more sting, but very tasty and brilliantly balanced.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm, 6 May 2008) Orange colour with dense, lasting, white head. Slightly cloudy. Fruity, yeasty nose with orange peel, Seville orange and a spicy hint of pepper mint. Fruity, slightly yeasty taste with notes of citrus peel, grass, spices and herbs. Dry, perfectly harsh, with a nice, dry bitterness in the finish. Brilliant saison, almost reaching Dupont levels of complexity.

Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. Opaque black with coarse beige head. Aroma of milk chocolate. Very soft and verlvetty. Like whipped cream with tar pastiles and chocolate. Laid back, yet mouthfilling. Aniseed and a very slight warming tingle from the chili comes through in the salty finish. A wonderful, well balanced beer that exceeds my expectations.

Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. Hazy orange colour, massive creamy head. Lovery aroma of orange, coriander and cinnamon. Fairly dry, juic and fruity. Light and fresh with rounded spritzy mouthfeel. Lovely complex flavour with everything from dough to orange jam and bitter herbs. Long herbal bitterness. Perhaps the juicy flavour dies a bit early, but it has remarkable qualities!

Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. Cloudy darkish amber, rich creamy head. strong hoppy citric grapefruit aroma. Sweet with clean rounded mouthfeel. Notes of strawberries and caramel, but hops is dominant. Long resiny bitterness. Very American style, both is terms of malt and hop character, yet with something that tells me it’s not really American made.

750ml, very nice bottle design. Pours an inky black body with a russet tint. Missing head. Dark roasted aroma with coffee notes. Brown sugar, burnt coffee and a chocolate touch in a rounded kind of flavour. Bitter coffee notes in a moderate tail. Quite easy to drink (Thanks to Knut Albert for sharing, 04.04.2008).

Black beer under a dark greige head. Dry wood, liquorice (but restrained), some dry ground coffee. Sweet, very sweet coffee & moccha, again liquorice. Coffee milk, and the typical sourish ending of burnt barley. Throat delivers the hot chili, but it remains very soft, in fact, it takes care of the balance. Too mild for a real I.S., more a foreign stout, but good enough.
