Cask at the Swan (Nicholsons), Hammersmith. Amber with a ring of white head; floral aroma; soft in the mouth with some sitrus, and floral hops; then a thin, biscuity finish. Lacks body and hops.

Cask at the Great British Beer Festival 2013. Poured a cloudy copper colour with no head. Funky aroma of wet grass and caramel. Flavours were stale and not very pleasant. Might have been toward the end of the barrel, but I’d drunk quite a few sub-parr cask conditioned beers at this year’s festival.

Cask(@ Windsor Castle, Kensington):Deep golden, hazy, mid-sized loose but persistent head, relatively sweetish nose of flowery and citrussy hops, toasted malt and a slight touch of cough syrup underneath; moderate dryish dryish bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied; not completely dry, but still dryish bitter-sweet flowery to herbal hoppy finish, some juicy malt detectable. Fine session beer…

Weak gold colour. Flowery yet astringent taste, hard to pin down. Weak finish, thin mouthfeel.
