On cask at the Haymarket. Appearance - deep amber to red with a nice fluffy head. Nose - red fruit and very sweet toffee. Biscuits. Taste - astringent malt mostly. Red fruit but smothered in malt bag and burnt bread. Palate - light to medium bodied with a crunchy texture and an astringent finish. Overall - hard work.

Bottle at home from the brewery. A lovely dark pour and a great nose of roasted dark malts. My first thought on the first sip was "liquorice" and the flavour had great length across the profile. It was very pleasant. The dark malts were very evident and there was, to me, a perfect balance to this beer. This was just a lovely pint of beer and it shows that a good stout is very hard to beat.

Bottle at home from the brewery. This was a light English bitter that hit the spot at the end of a very busy Saturday. It was in no way spectacular, but was very pleasant nonetheless.

Bottle at home from the brewery. A dark pour and a small head. A very English IPA with plenty of bitter hops. It had a smooth mouthfeel and was very drinkable, but the alcohol was very forward. The abv is high and that coupled with the bitterness make this in no way sessionable.

Bottle at home from the brewery while watching the Singapore Grand Prix. It looked good in the tankard and the nose was roasted and toasted malts. The flavour was the same, with the bitter toasted malts perfectly balanced against the typical sweetness of a true mild. The malts gave a lovely mouthfeel and I had it at the perfect temperature to make this very thirst quenching. I can see why this did so well at the GBBF.

Bottle at home in Hackney - sourced from Waitrose. Pours clear copper with a small, foamy off-white head. Lightly toasted brown bread in the aroma, with touches of leaves and dried berries. Mellow sweetness in the flavour, with more brown bread, moderate leafy bitterness, hints of earth, English yeast, more berries. Light bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Finishes with more simple brown bread, leaves and hints of grass, old leathery berries. Fine bitter.
