Description
At present there are five of us working at the brewery – Luke and Stuart who assist with deliveries and the cleaning and filling of casks. In the office, there’s Julia AKA Fuzzy, who doubles as Droxford’s famous lollipop lady. She keeps all the paperwork in good order which is a good thing because this was a weakness of ours. The Bowman family is of course completed by Ray and myself.

Our beers have evolved over the years into three really popular regular brews and each month we have a 4.5% special on too.

Pours a clear amber colour with a small fast disappearing white head. A caramel malt and ripe fruity aroma. A moderately sweet caramel taste, some fruit and nuttiness with a light bitterness in the finish. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Pint at the Crosse Keys. A typical and simple bitter/best bitter in the classic English style. Ideal session beer for a lunchtime, but not a huge amount going on. Bitter hops, balancing malt, but not much flavour and a bit watery. There are better beers in this bracket.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from the bargain bin at Waitrose Canary Wharf for a quid. Pours clear yellow-gold with a small, creamy white head. The nose holds sun-kissed pale biscuits, light grains, lemon peel straw. Light sweet flavour with mellow bitterness, more straw and pale grains, moderate citric hops, more lemon peel. Light bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Tidy finish, some further crunchy pale grains, lemon peel, lightly bitter straw. Somewhat basic, but also fairly classic. Enjoyable.

Clear golden beer, thin white head. Floral, hoppy scent. Flavour is hop, citrus, malt. Dry finish with an edge of fruitiness. It's nothing remarkable but they're right on the description, it's thoroughly drinkable for it's strength. Very sessionable.
