Description
At present there are five of us working at the brewery – Luke and Stuart who assist with deliveries and the cleaning and filling of casks. In the office, there’s Julia AKA Fuzzy, who doubles as Droxford’s famous lollipop lady. She keeps all the paperwork in good order which is a good thing because this was a weakness of ours. The Bowman family is of course completed by Ray and myself.

Our beers have evolved over the years into three really popular regular brews and each month we have a 4.5% special on too.

Cask at the Cornfield Garage, Eastbourne. Poured a crystal clear yellow golden colour with a thin white head. The aroma is yeasty, floral hops. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a fresh, smooth, light yeasty, floral hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Liked this!

Bottle from lowcostbeer.com consumed 3 months past BBE. Pours a cloudy gold, some sediment, big foamy head. Aroma has a lemon pith, grass and dusty grain aroma. Low carbonation, semi drying, light to mid bodied and slick. Quite a subdued flavour with pleasant enough malts and a grassy and citric note.

Cask at Picture House, Stafford. Pours a slightly hazy golden brown with a small off-white head and good lacing. There’s floral hops in the aroma plus some hints of summer fruits. In the mouth it is quite sweet with a creamy texture. Flavour is mainly malts and nuts but with some hoppy hints as well. A little bit of toffee comes through later on as well leading to a slightly bitter finish. This is decent enough – but definitely NOT a brown ale ! Somewhere between a bitter and a golden ale – maybe even a light mild ?

Mahogany brown with a creamy/frothy tan head and soft roasted malt on the nose. Taste is coffee and some dark fruit up front, a little kick of aniseed and a dry, bitter roasted malt finish.

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Black with a white head and quite heavy. Black coffee, toasty malts, a little caramel note. Dry and bitter on the first taste, but it mellows as you drink more with some blackberry notes coming through. Aftertaste of bourbon biscuits. Somewhere between a mild and a light stout I thought. It's not bad.

Cask @ Leeds Station Wetherspoon. Very dark with an off-white creamy head. Lovely and smooth with its pleasant dark maltiness, stated too, although lighter in aroma.
