Description
Deschutes Brewery was founded in 1988 as a brew pub in Bend, Oregon. Family and employee-owned, the brewery is known for brewing a diverse line-up of award winning beers including the popular Black Butte Porter, Mirror Pond Pale Ale, and Fresh Squeezed IPA. From the beginning, the focus has been on crafting the best beer and food using only the finest ingredients. In 2008, Deschutes opened a second pub in Portland’s Pearl District. Deschutes Brewery now ships beer to 28 states, the District of Columbia, and around the world from its main brewing facility located on the banks of the Deschutes River.

Amber, hazy, and a thin head. There's a nice fruity accent to the hops, and a bit of chewiness. It's fairly bitter, with light worty accent. The chewiness isn't great here, but it helps it from being too watery. The hops are where I think I'm disappointed. It was evident that the structure of the beer would have to showcase hop brightness, and these are the old, stale hops from the back of the fridge, lacking brightness.

Reviewed from notes.
Bottle to chalice.
Appearance: dark brown color with a finger's worth of eggshell white foamy head which took it's time to dissipate and once it did, light lace formed
Aroma: red raspberry forward initially (more tart than sweet) but after some time, some Belgian malty tones of the spicy yeastiness, light woody sweetness, Belgian candies, dark fruits and some chocolate ended up coming out
Flavor: did a nice job of blending the prior noted aromas to a fine spicy to semi-sweet mixture and finished with the raspberries and Belgian candies
Texture: medium bodied, good sipper, not enough tartness from the raspberries to make anything abrasive or distractible on the tongue, so in turn, this beer becomes fairly smooth, there is that expected "back-of-the-throat" pull of being a Belgian style that seems to grab at me
Overall: I believe Deschutes did what they wanted to with this beer - it's a Belgian Quad with raspberries in it and I would return to this.

Aromas are malt, pineapple, citrus, resin. Flavors are similar to nose and lean a bit bitter. Add in a touch of MJ. Fullbodied and okay carbonation.

Aromas are strong MJ with citrus and malt. Flavors are similar to nose, but bring out the citrus more and reduces the MJ. Leans a bit sweet. Decent but not special.

Capped 500 from Tavour. Pours dark brn/blk with a slight tan smear. Aroma of chocolate and whiskey. Nearly full bodied. Smooth. Not dry but not very sugary. Bitterness from burnt malt and heat. Lots of whiskey and chocolate. Slight burn in the gullet but not so much in the mouth.
