Hello, we’re Thistly Cross, Scotland’s award winning farmhouse ciders, born out of a passion for making cider in the best possible way, combined with belief in the quality of Scottish produce, and asking ‘why not?’. Established as a collaboration between farmer, Ian Rennie, and artist-turned-cidermaker, Peter Stuart, in 2008, Thistly Cross has gained a reputation for making ciders that people rave about.

Cask at the Red Lion, Amblecote. Pours dark pink with a small head. Aroma is overly sweet cranberry sauce and strawberry. Taste has watery apple to start and a sour jammy finish.

Pint at Clachaig Inn draft. Clear gold with a medium heavy lacing white head. Nose is sweet red apples, Scotch whiskey, and a hint of oak,. Flavor is lightly sweet with a hint of tart apples, Scotch whiskey, and oak.Very nice with the single malt background. Probably will need a second pint rather than a lager beer rating.

Bottle. Clear golden color with no head. Aroma is ginger, sweet apple juice. Taste is the same, not too complex, but works.

Bag in box at the jolly judge. Pours clear golden, nose is floral, vanilla, caramel, apple, taste is chewy, oak, sweet apple --- Beer merged from original tick of Slyrs Whisky Cask on 12 Oct 2017 at 08:18 - Score: 7

Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Amber with a straw head. Tangy with its strawberry but very flavoursome at the same time.

Tap. Clear golden color with no head. Aroma is nutty, apple skin, woody. Taste is nutty, apple skin, tasty apples. Medium carbonation. Tasty, but totally weird - nearly like a sherry. I like sherry.

Aroma is a very slate Ginger. Flavor is much more bold Apple Ginger sweet slightly pungent good Carbonic Tang. Good body and finish fairly straightforward. It's a ginger cider. It's not bad but nothing to write home about.
