Description
At Brains we are proud to be Welsh & proud that we remain family owned.

Brains beers were brewed in the Old Brewery on St Mary Street from 1882 right up to 1999 when operating from such a tight city-centre site became unviable. Fortunately, the Cardiff Brewery behind Cardiff Central station was up for sale and Brains production moved to a new home. However exciting new redevelopments in the centre of the city have led to a further move and the building of the brand new state of the art Dragon Brewery in Cardiff Bay which was opened in March 2019.

Can (label says 3.5%): Clear, light amber coloured, bigger stable creamy off-white head; light - typical "english" - fruity-malty nose, maybe with a touch of butterscotch and a light but distinctive hop profile; light bitter-sweet flavour, soft, light bodied; pretty delicate bitter-malty finish. Thin, but not bad..........

Can (thanx to Quack-Duck!) Amber coloured, smaller, but quite stable beige head; caramelly-sweet nose with a fruity-hoppy background; mild sweetish-bitter flavour, relatively light bodied; slightly lingering fruity-malty finish with a light hoppiness. Not bad, but only a shadow of the cask version.........

Cask at The Regal JDW, Cambridge, 03-10-09 Pours dark amber, white head. There is a whiff of lavender on the nose with some malt. Taste is also malty but there I was surprised by hoppy burps. Nicely bitter, and whilst decent it never threatens greatness. A6 A3 F6 P3 Ov12 3.0
