Description
At Brains we are proud to be Welsh & proud that we remain family owned.
Brains beers were brewed in the Old Brewery on St Mary Street from 1882 right up to 1999 when operating from such a tight city-centre site became unviable. Fortunately, the Cardiff Brewery behind Cardiff Central station was up for sale and Brains production moved to a new home. However exciting new redevelopments in the centre of the city have led to a further move and the building of the brand new state of the art Dragon Brewery in Cardiff Bay which was opened in March 2019.

Pours copper with an off-white small head.Nose shows sweetness... lots of sweetness. Apple juice, grape juice, brown sugar, honey, etc, etc. A bit sickly really.Flavours show some of the same sweetness but is very watery! Some cidery notes, finishes with a bland mild bitterness.Very watery body too, And low carbonation which doesn’t work at all.Needs a lot more malt, both for flavour and body.a

Cask at the Cleveland Arms, London. Pours a clear, ruby-chestnut with a thin, white head. Fuity malt aroma with light nuts. Sweet, semi-boozy flavor with mild grape and cherry, and faint, earthy bitterness. Medium in body with soft carbonation. Some alcohol notes in the finish, with wood, dark malts and modest hops. So so.

Bright amber colour. The aroma is a bit minerally, caramelly. Caramel accent but balanced. Finishes with a light yeasty fruitiness. Not - in my view - their best brew.

Deep gold colour. The aroma has soft herbal hops and maybe a little yeast spiciness. Mild, sweetish malt character with light hops. Nothing wrong with it.
