Cask at the Sussex Arms, Twickenham Green, 12/01/13. Mid black with a thin tan head, good lacing ensues. Nose is light roast malt, berry fruits, touch of liqourice. Taste follows, molasses, hint of chocolate, berry fruit flavour seems a tad artificial but it’s fairly subtle so doesn’t detract from the general stoutiness! Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, dry finish. Ok.

Cask at GBBF 2012, London. Pours clear brown with a fint, tan cream head. Dark toast nose with hints of cocoa, dark berries. Light sweet flavor with faint toast, heavy charred malts and cigarette butts. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Faintly sweet finish with lots more burnt malts, leaves and cigarette butts. OK.

Cask @ Holyrood 9A
Reddish copper brown, clear, frothy white head, good lacing
Aroma - caramel malts, medicinal, cinnamon(?), spicy, fruity malts
Taste as aroma, didn’t get the chilli
Palate - medium body, quite oily, bit sticky. Finish - bitter herbal, quite dry, bit medicinal, touch of cinnamon again, over bitter linger
Overall - OK bit seems overcramped with too much additional flavourings in it and has a rather bitterish linger - it did get somewhat better drinking more of it

Cask at the Birmingham Beer Festival 2012. Clear dark brown pour with a thin white head. When they said there were green chillies and cardamoms in this beer, they weren't joking! The aroma is all about dry spices. The flavour is very dry spicy and bitter. There isn't much on the palate and not much behind either! It's a spicy beer for those people that like spices! Plain and simple.

Cask (backlog from 2010 or 2011). Slightly hazy golden colour with a small white head. Aroma is citrusy, mild doughy malts, some resiny and mild nectary notes. Flavour is citrusy, quite malty with some slight berries and resiny notes. Ends rather sweet citrusy and nectary.

On tap at the Rake. Cloudy brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, low carbonation. Fair bit of malt with subtle chocolate. Nice fruits on the back end but they clash a little with the bitter orange hop at the end. Very mild chilli. Mild bitter aftertaste. Interesting beer but could be a lot clearer and fresher.

On tap at the Rake. Light haze on this amber beer, no head. Smooth palate, but low carbonation. Fresh malt with a little citric hop. Fairly insipid. Semi dry finish. Meh!
