Sampled at the Estes Park Winter Festival. Pours a cloudy orange, with some beige bubbles, but no head. The nose is butterscotch and toffee, with some resinous hops. Sweet at first, with a fair bit of hop bitterness coming forward. Light to medium body, lightly carbonated, malty, and clean. This is a reasonably nice maerzen, but a little overhopped.

Tasting at Matt’s
Dark brown color, no head. Dark caramel aroma and flavor, very light roasty flavor too, a bit too dry and weak though. Luckily there is some chocolate too.

12 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark brown with an amber tinge with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted malt and dry cocoa. Flavour is fairly robust, with toasted malt, burnt crusty bread and toasted nuts. Somewhat robust in the flavours, but the body is quite weak making this underwhelming. Meh.

Bottle - Nice toasty notes and some flowery notes. Deep brown with a light beige head. Light sweet toasty notes and some hop perfumy notes. Nice, light and sweet.

This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a decent looking golden copper color body with a decent half finger white foamy head that simmered down to a nice adequate milky looking film of a lacing speckling the glass.
The smell had a decent amount of citric like hops but also a balanced amount of caramel malts.
The taste was sweet through the malts and the hops but still carried a decent amount of bitterness to allow a pervasive bitterness on my taste buds.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium with a fair sessionability about it. The carbonation was actually smoother than most APA’s I’ve had, still no worries.
Overall, not a bad APA, just not one that shows enough to go bonkers about.

This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a decent looking dark brown color with a soft white to off white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute leaving some light lacing here and there.
The smell had a slightly smooth nutty chocolate aroma that seemed to be lightly roasted.
The taste was mainly sweet yet carried a decent chocolate/nutty flavoring.
On the palate, this one sat fairly light and carried a degree of sessionability to it. The carbonation finished fairly smoothly.
Overall, good porter worthy of having again.

At the brewpub, this was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a hazy burnt orange to ruddy brown color with a decent hazy tinge of amber. Bar pour yielded no head and there wasn’t any lacing then.
The smell had some nice earthy nutty to caramel malts lightly sweetened and just a small dose of English malts in there as well.
The taste was a decent blend of sweet to bitter through the malts carrying the flavor.
On the palate, she sat right on the medium side of the body. The carbonation seemed appropriately styled as it was mainly subdued.
Overall, not bad for an ESB made by an American brewer. I probably would have again if available but probably wouldn’t necessarily need to seek out either.

The appearance had a gentle hazy golden yellow to orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than forty seconds. There was some light lacing sticking around.
The smell had some light sweet honey with a tad of some graininess at the end.
The taste was mainly sweet through the honey and the element of that graininess tends to subdue the sweetness.
The palate had some sort of a decent sessionability about it.
Overall, this was a pretty good beer worthy of having again.

The smell had a nice sweet malty bill but allowed a nice under current of light spice to grace my nose.
The taste was mainly just sweet as it settled over my taste buds.
The palate had a decent sessionability with a fairly nice lightness about it. The carbonation was smooth.
Overall, good California Common that I could have again.

The appearance was a light glossy orange color with a decent yellow around the edges. There was some light stringy lacing around the glass.
The smell had some light citrus to blend decently with a caramel malt base and then as it warmed there was a nice light spiciness that came out.
The taste was mainly the same thing.
The palate was somewhat dry and still carried a slight degree of sessionability.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good beer.
