Tap at Patrick's. Nitro. Big & black. Creamy tan head. Yes, nose is coffee. Excellent lacing BTW. Completely flat of course. Can't taste the whisky or oak in this one and I'm glad, so tired of those barrel beers. Difficult stout in the middle but never rises to impy level. A little uncivilized in the coffee arena in the end. A little co2 would make this more palatable.

12oz can. A pretty solid Coffee Stout, the oak is rather mild, but adds some nice depth too I suppose. Really solid example of the style, depth without being gimmicky. Enjoyable.

Not a bad stout, just not up to the label's promise, offering moderate notes of coffee and chocolate accented by a slight dark fruit acidity and modest vanilla- and oak-tinged sweetness on the back end. Not sure where the whiskey went--never would've guessed this pint was aged on Tullamore D.E.W.--and the watery texture gives a disappointing thinness to the flavors. Pours a dark, dark brown with a weak beige head and mild lacing. Whiskey on the nose--found it!--makes the aroma the beer's strongest point. Otherwise a forgettable pint.

Sample at Daily Growler UA. Brown-black color with a medium creamy beige head that recedes gradually to a dense film. Small patches of lace. Aroma of roast malt, chocolate and mild coffee. Medium body with flavors of roasted coffee, chocolate malt, coffee and a bit of booze. The finish is roasty with a malt and coffee aftertaste. Above average overall.

Draft/Fest. A- Whisky, malty, caramel. A- Copper color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Whisky, butterscotch, caramel, fruity. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Nice beer but something I can't quite place. A fair amount of fruity butterscotch touched off by a layer of booziness. Enjoyed it but really wish I knew what all the ingredients were. Can't be a totally straightforward barleywine.

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark golden color with a medium sized foamy off white head that left minimal lacing. The aroma was musty and yeasty with table sugar and faint golden fruits. The flavor was yeasty and slightly phenolic with table sugar and faint golden fruits. Medium length finish. Medium body. Disappointing given how much I tend to like this style.

12 oz can. Pours a very dark brown with moderate head. Aromas of nutty almost sour malted chocolate, with vanilla and creamy roasted malts, Flavors of sweet milky chocolate, nutty chocolate, grainy malts and creamy coffee. Very nice though more of a milk stout.

Refrigerated brown bomber poured into a glass. Clear light Amber with small white head. Aroma with booze, medium body, low carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is booze and caramel. The worst of the evening.
