Keg draught at BrewDog Leicester. Light brown and clear with no head. Boozy caramel and sarsaparilla aroma. Gorgeous taste with sweet caramel and touches of candy sugar with root beer and sugary vanilla, followed by an intensely medicinal bitterness. Full oily body with zero carbonation.

On tap at Craft Beer Oasis, Crewe. Pours almost black with a small cream head and good lacing. Hops are the mainstay of the aroma – along with traces of vanilla. In the mouth again it’s hops to the fore plus roast malts, cola, dandelion and burdock and hints of dark fruits, ginger and herbs, Finish is quite fruity, The is rather nice, and hides its strength well.

Keg at Brewdog Kelvingrove, prior to seeing Bill Callahan at QMU. Pours clear orange with a thin white head. Aromas of citrus, marmalade and root beer. Taste is almost medicinal, cough syrup. Warming finish. Odd.
